I was curious, and I thought of putting this in the flash, but chose to open it to the forum as a new thread. Now, when Zone does an animation, how is the music decided that plays in the Flash? Does Zone get to chose, or is it up to the commissioning party? That's more of a question to Gantros.

Part 2 of this question is, What should play during the Flash Animation? What song would you like to hear or that you think would enhance the animation?

I'm a bit impartial to Ratt's - Body Talk, since I heard it recently in the Street Fighter Collab on Newgrounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akIY0aKYknY

Personally, I was thinking something more period-appropriate... like some classical chamber music, maybe strings or a harpsicord...

Perhaps a compromise, such as Romance from Apocalyptica. It definitely has a blend of rock and classical, but the particular song I selected has a bit more emphasis on the classic and less on the rock, except as an accent. They also only seem to use string instruments and drums, the rock part being down with a distorted cello, as memory serves.

I would like to have some music from the time period like Johnny. And the music choice of Samuel is maybe a good for the flash, but maybe some opera like Nightwish, Withintemptation etc looks also good.

I dunno guys, this all seems pretty dark considering the context.

I would agree with Johnny, a classy ballroom piece, maybe even a bit cheesy by today's standards.

Heres a piece done by Geoffrey Toye who is a fantastic pianist/composer that fits a little better in my books:

Even thats a bit off though, more fast paced maybe, like a good foxtrot. Having fun, being silly and corny and lighthearted.

Just my thoughts.

Another reason to consider an older composition is the fact that most stuff from the time period would be considered "public domain" under current copyright laws, thus avoiding any issues of copyright infringement. Even though I doubt ZONE's ever had any problems with DMCA in any of his/her flash animations, I do constantly keep seeing videos on YouTube getting yanked or being shown without audio due to piddling complaints about music used in them...

A good opera/slight rock band is epica. They have a major rock influence in a few songs, but in the majority of others, it's opera. I think the best by Epicca is Quietus. Here's a link:

I have noo idea what the song is about, but this song is more of the ones with a larger rock influence. It is, however, the best song they have done.

There are places that make sample musics to be used as you wish. I know your hoping for something more historically accurate, but I think plenty would raise a curious eyebrow to why a classic piece is being played to a sex animation.

When's the last time you made love to Mozart Johnny? Razz

Are you really sure you want to know the answer to that question? *waggles eyebrows suggestively*

Johnny. Less you forget who your talking to. You think she's afraid to hear the answer after admiting to having sex to Metallica's - Battery? Laughing

Myself, I enjoy the randomly generated instrumental music Zone pics out.

The answer is Zero, isn't it? *Sticks her tongue out at him* You were just baiting to get something out of me, weren't you, you silly cousin of a fox. *Chuckles with mischief* Why would I be worried by such an answer? I'd be more worried of my reaction. Wink

I would have to see said flash to give a better opinion(did I miss something? lol,not surprising if I did),but I would be inclined to agree with something more period or classic, though Apocalyptica would be a nice touch to.

The plan is to have a simple piano or organ playing, at least when the 'silent' filter is active. Most silent films had a piano or organ in the theater to play accompanying music, and that's what I asked Zone to use, without being specific, as for whether it'll play in sync with what is going on the screen, considering that it is interactive, I don't know. Perhaps for the normal or color filter, something more orchestral or operatic could be playing. But be aware that if I ask for these changes, it may cause the price to go up beyond the current $600, so bear that in mind.

I don't see how that would hike the price. Adding music to a flash is simple enough. Especialy since its just background music.

How about we compromise. Time appropriate music for when the filter is on, and something more attuned to now-a-days when the filter is off?

Good. So now we need to finalize what it'll be.

I kinda left that up to zone, he seems to be pretty good at selecting the right kind of music and I trust his judgment based on his past work

So zone is a He, right? Cause I've always been up in the air with it. I mean, its not unheard of for guys to play female characters or have them as mascots online. But I've heard so many people refer to zone as a "she."

Actually,I don't know, I just use he. Apparently Zone deliberately keeps his/her gender ambiguous so people will talk about it.
