Really you can put in all the "anti-pirate" things in the comic you want but very determined pirates can still crack it. You can just make it highly inconvenient for them.

I may be new to PBB however "hackers" (for lack of a better term) and cyber pirates I have a history with.
I have some friends currently working in intelligence that may be of some help with the problem.
If you would like me to contact them about the situation please let me know.

Besides, they say if you know how to do it counter-hacking is kinda fun. whistling

sorry about the double post on that one.
The internet connection here gets screwy sometimes and pages get reloaded, don't shop online from an army post you may get double the shipment and bill that goes with it.

Laughing That sounds great, though I think maybe your friends should keep their attentions on more serious cyber-cimes, like that whole "conficker" thing that was happeneing last week...

They were until we found that there was no major threat, or at least not as big as they were saying. It was just someone's sick April Fool's Day joke. I always did hate that holiday.

No, Conflicker-C was this year's version of Y2K. As you know, every time somebody comes up with some new computer problem, then everybody treats it like it's some kind of end of the world thing. First of all, the virus was a time-bomb trojan which was known weeks in advance. This meant that all you needed was any anti-virus program actively running (and updating) and it would have blocked it. Despite this, everybody wanted to act like it was going to bring down the entire Internet, much like the infamous "Y2K bug" which ended up being a big load of crap.

There's nothing wrong with April Fool's Day, as some of the gags are actually pretty good. Sure, not everything is funny (Wikipedia was pretty corny), but some of the webpage gags are pretty darn clever and amusing.

Getting back to the subject, piracy is always going to exist. Seriously, think of a MP3 song or DVD-released movie that hasn't been pirated yet. I don't think that there's a such thing. All you can hope for is that people buy it legit and that's it.

I don't think that PBB theft is that widespread. People that steal from PBB miss out on a lot anyway. You tell me of another site where if you stay active and pay for six months, then you could end up with a custom avatar (both a forum icon and full length portrait, in color) drawn for you. Then if you stay active for over a year, your character could make a guest appearance in the comic itself or featured in other site content. There's dozens of adult comic websites, but I don't know of a single one where you have an opportunity to show up in the canon story itself.

The main thing you have to do is keep the sites that spread those resources about. You can be put on a list of "Banable content" like MaxBlackRabbit, Dr. Comet, and SexyFur did with their works.

Otherwise, there's no true thing you can do to stop people, other than only share the comic to us via e-mail, then you have a better idea of who would be giving out the comics.

The problem can lay with Screen Capture and edit. I've shown my friends how to do that for their WoW experience, where the saying "Screen shot or it didn't happen" has caused them guild troubles.

However, the same can happen to the site, and so even when Ronald has it diced up, it just saves it from getting saved at once, but a screen shot will get the whole comic page. Confused

Conflicker-C? Oh, ok. I know what it is it’s just that they had another name for it. And I'll admit, we kind of fluffed it off as no big deal. What I thought he was talking about is there was a cyber threat released that someone "revamped" it to be more potent and made it harder to detect and block. My confusion came from the fact that they still called it the Conflicker bug. Please accept my apologies for I am not the most informed on these matters. I don't work in intel, I'm a "hands-on" soldier who happens to be friends with some intel people.

And I know that piracy will always exist. Widespread piracy is impossible to stop because "where there is a will, there is a way". For every new security code they come up with it doesn't take long for someone to find a way around it.

And I agree with you on the uniqueness of PBB & think that it is an excellent way to reward loyal members.
