Back to that fish shaking is he? I know what he's referring to. For those of you on Deviant Art, there was a little smiley face. One shakes a fist, the other shakes a "fish" due to typos people would sometimes make when saying fist. I recall him using it often for mock anger.
Now, unlike my choice in avatars, names are where I appreciate the goth and mysteriousness of names. Crimson, Gantros, and Scarlett. All our bats it seems. Katrin Icemore and Corran Halcyon.
Brandon, how do you pronounce your last name? _________________ Oh, I'd tell myself

Y'know, there are so many emoticons on dA, I hadn't seen that one before; I always have trouble finding the one I want, so I tend to stick to just a few basic ones.
Names? Tadelesh means "lucky". I've always had difficulty in deciding how to pronounce it, but I think TAD-ELL-ESH is probably the way I would say it. Thalion, well, I didn't come up with that surname myself. Pronounced so it rhymes with stallion, I believe. I sometimes wonder how to pronounce other people's names too. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |

I've been thinking of your name as TA-de-lesh, with the "de" pronounced as you would in Denver.
As for my own, part of why I made my fursona English rather than French, is that I prefer Constance pronounced in the English/American way. And Mayflower is pretty easy to pronounce. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

Perhaps it's just me, but the way you would pronounce Tadelesh sounds pretty much the same as the way I would.. or was that your point? Phonetic spelling confuses me, sometimes. The trouble is, it's hard to find somewhere that actually gives a bit more background to the name, including pronunciation. I've been able to find hardly anything about the name Tadelesh apart from its meaning and country of origin.
Yeah, Constance sounds much better in English than French. A lot of names do. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |

Ahh okay, I thought that your way of pronouncing your name was different, but I'm not good at phonetic spelling either.
And I know what you mean about meanings to names and such. I did a lot of searching to find out if my fursona's name would seem believable in the time period that PBB is set in.
I can imagine your name being much more difficult to find more information about. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

I wasn't really thinking about things like that when I first discovered and used the name. It was just a cool name to use in a MUD. After using it for so long, though, it stuck as a name I associated with being a furry representation of myself, even though I'd played other, similar characters with other names. They also weren't as cool in design of character as him either, and it wouldn't be the same if I called him Biorkis or Xarles or any of the other names I used.
Hmm. Should we start a new topic about names, rather than carry this on in the Favourite Avatars thread? _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |

It might be better with a new thread for more in-depth talk about names.
I just mentioned a couple of names to begin with, to show some different things I like about the Royal member avatars. I guess it could just as well have been which occupations are my favourites. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

Well, the trouble is you two are still using the regular letters. If your going to spell it out phonetically, you spell it easiest it sounds.
Tadelesh, the way you spelled it looks like you would say it: Taad - El - Ish.
Symphony, yours looks like your saying it: Ta (Like how you say the A in apple) - Deh - Lesh (almost like less)

The latter way there is how I would say it. Thanks for that, Mystic. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |
