To me, it's not easy to compare pbb to other comics. Usually when I think of comics I think of comic books like the Marvel ones and such. I'd rather compare Vanessa's work as a whole to the work of other artists, particularly the ones who draw adult furry artwork. I have three favorite artists whose work I like for different reasons, and Vanessa is one of them.

Hehe, my other two favorite artists are Jeremy Bernal and Dr. Comet. Along with Vanessa, they are the only ones I'm really interested in seeing more work from. There are other good artists of course, but those three are the most significant ones to me. But for different reasons, which is good, I think. Aside from the quality of the art, there's a lot of depth to the story and the characters that Vanessa has created, which sets her apart even further IMHO.

In all the comics I read online PBB is tied with 3 of them for good story, art, and the suspence of waiting for the next page of the story. PBB holds a slight lead with its... "naughty" features added though. lol

I have probably written these comments in some place or another, but maybe it is worth repeating. In my opinion, there's not any comic that I've seen that is like PBB, which is why I like it.

First of all, it's extremely well-drawn and colored. The backgrounds look so detailed, and that is extremely rare for any kind of comic, including so-called "professional" ones sold in stores. The artwork is clearly not copied-and-pasted over and over (which is extremely common). It's probably because Vanessa can't since she uses uneven panels and overlays.

Also, there's the stereotype that women are just exploited by the adult industry. I'm glad that Vanessa can prove the critics wrong as she writes, draws, and controls the format of her own adult site.

Finally, I think that it's pretty rare to see a highly sexual comic with an actual story and developed characters. Most adult material just dishes out just enough plot or character description to just setup the next big sex scene. I think that people actually do care about the plot and the cast.

If all "porn" was as good as Vanessa's comic, I wonder if all the negative connotation surrounding it would still exist.

When I read this topic I got goosebumps... and I was moved. Because I have never been so appreciated in my homeland, Italy, as author and artist. Truth is that since 1998 I've wandered through comic cons and italian publishers, offering myself as author and showing my book and my self-production Dillinger that is in no way inferior to PBB, since for me is just as good. But nobody has ever given me the opportunity of publishing a story I made. Everybody criticized me, and currently I work as colorist for comics drawn by others, I've never received a work as artist, writer or character designer.
And do you know what my book has inside? The characters of PBB that I've always drawn, but in a clean version.
I always had in mind to draw this story without allusions to sex, for everybody, but nobody is interested.
When Ronald told me that I'd get a site of my own for PBB he didn't ask me particular references, he didn't read my curriculum, he never knew (and he still doesn't) what I'd draw in the following page or how I'd develop the story and the characters. He only saw my style, he liked it and he trusted me. In my country these things are miracles because it's very difficult to be noticed and persuade a publisher unless you got connections or unless you fully give in to his will and decisionary power. On PBB I got fully free hand.
Moreover if not for internet and the technology that joined my country to yours I wouldn't have been working, I'd still be a sales clerk for a known fashion shop in which I worked due to need.
I never had problems drawing PBB in a porn version, because I knew that when reading and watching my art nobody would have judged me badly. Because I would have done it with seriousness and professionality. The facts demonstrate that who has prejudices and didn't have faith in me was wrong. Thanks to you, to my friends ( and Marco, my boyfriend, of course) and to Ronald.

Have you tried Lulu.com? It's a self-publishing site. While, it's not a publishing house or such, it might give you the ability to mass produce some of your shorter comics or stories. I've used it a couple of times on some of my poetry and stories. I still haven't offered any of the copies I've done, yeah I know lame, but... it did actually feel kinda neat to just actually print something in a real book, instead of just having having it spiral-bound at like Kinko's or something.

Though its a shame to hear that they ignored your talents until you finally made it into an adult version. I wonder how the comic would have been like without all the porn. I'm sure your story would still be compelling Vanessa, as you blend drama, comedy, and action together, but what would do to the Royal Members? I know, its cliche to say sex sells, but I think its better as an adult comic.

Part of the appeal of Bon Bon is the fact that you have so much else other than just the excellently written and drawn comic. The games, the X-Rays, the fact that people can become part of the comic themselves; it all adds up to make an experience unlike any other webcomic I've come across, to the point that I often forget that the basis of it is a webcomic - I see it as more of a community. It's the only webcomic where I've actually paid to see more of it, and the only webcomic where I've talked in the forums. That says it all for me, I think.

Like all the others have said welcome to the board Aklavor. I've always liked Bonbon myself ever since it was once hosted on the vixine site as a bonus comic. Some of the things I do enjoy about this comic is how the story keeps you wanting more and how Vanessa is so kind to her loyal fanbase by drawing people their fursona's in the comic's style and also features them in the story itself.

As for Vanessa's earlier post it surprises me that people actually rejected her stories before PBB came along as her art can be both cute and sexy at the same time as shown in the latest pages of issue 7. Also I have a question for Vanessa will any more characters from your Dillinger comic show up in bonbon? I know the lioness has shown up and Simon Blue looks a lot like Dillinger's father.

Its a shame, but its true with most furry artists. Take a look around any site. Even if they don't do full hardcore works, there pretty much seems to be only two ways to success when it comes to works of furry art.

1) Sex/Adult entertainment or 2) Cute/Chibi comedic works.
