When she says "afraid" in that manner, it is a figure of speech, Henk. She isn't actually afraid. It's an expression of.. regret? English is a confusing language; sometimes even for native speakers.

I suppose I should have known better than to think everyone would automatically assume that I took the hat off before i put the helmet on... next time I'll be sure to throw that detail in...
