This is for the Administrators of Bon Bon and the Forum really, but I invite any and all feed back.
It is my proposal to build and maintain a small and private aerodrome within the region/state of Bon Bon. The base would consist of two large hangers for storage of the Airship, a control tower and living quarters for myself, family and crew.
There would be no commercial flights: ie bringing in tourists and the like.
Though it would be available to all for cargo, adventure plot lines and if any of the forum users wish to become crew members, temporary or permanent then that too is possible.
If any one has any objections to this suggestion, then I shall withdraw the proposal. Thankyou for your time.

I've actually ridden in a blimp and they are so kool !
they only go about 50 mph and i saw a picture where lighning struck one and it only left a hole about the size of a pencil pokin into it!

That is so, but when there is no other air transport and road travel limited to the speed of a horse, then 50mph is quite fast. 
You may have seen the film showing the last minutes of the Hindenburg airship, that too was struck by lighting.

When Goodyear made thier new blimp they had a national essay contest
i was one of the few that won so i got to ride in the newly christened blimp
it was a thrill and definately a once in a lifetime experience!

After that i did start writing more and some of my poetry was published even!
I stuck my arm out of the blimp and it was so cold!
in the Blimp's Gondula the pilot is constantly moving both hands are working wheels on both sides of thier chair, switches and buttons, constantly being pressed.
it was a sight to see i thought it was funny that it only took a few people to hold the blimp on the ground

When films of the old airships are shown it is the work of dozens of men to hold it and steer it to the mooring mast. They will not be the case with the 'Daedalus'. Though constant supervision is needed to control the air ship in flight as by it's very nature it is vunerable to high winds and storms. Very much like a ship.

Hmm, I'd only assume the air currents around BonBon would be affected by the mountains, which would probably make air travel a bit more difficult.
On a side note, do you think avian characters would be more suited to the life of a pilot? Maybe most bird-folk are born with a subconscious desire to return to the skies? Perhaps the BonBon-verse's version of Orville and Wilbur Wright will turn out to be geese or hawks or something!

I think the pilots of an aircraft should be flightless birds like a penguin or a chicken lol.
That'd make me want to go up in the air with them.

Could be. After all birds are superb navigators and the Wright brothers plane was called the Kitty Hawk.

I have heard, probably apocryphal, that a flight crew once walked up the aisle of a 747 past the passengers and on to the flight deck, wearing dark glasses and with white sticks in their hands, tapping the seats as they walked along. Needless to say the joke did not go down well.

I think it's a case of what came first the chicken or the egg. Have I seen that clip and thought I read about it in an article or was the clip inspired by the story. memory is very maliable.  
If you see a copy of the November edition of the Fortan Times it has an article about it and airships seen in 1895 .

I am sure Sir that some thing more comfortable then a knee-trembler in a very small WC can be devised.
After all the 'Daedalus' will be fitted with passenger cabins for long trips, and what my pasengers do in the privacy of their cabins is of no concern to me.
It would take my air ship four days to cross a ocean the size of the Atlantic and people with time on their hands... But I would leave the concept of a floating pleasure palace to another entrepreneur.

If you try to make this pleasure castle, make sure that it works on a envirmental motor.
and make sure that are some puck bags. I never fly before.

Four days! Sir, that's a challenge! With the record for a steam powered surface ship being over 5 days (ooc: apparently in 1895, according to my research), it sounds like we have the makings of a race!
True that ice wouldn't be the same issue for you, but I would have to imagine that the storms cause as great an impact at least?

It would indeed. Such a storm would force the airship closer to the sea or ground. I based the speed of the Daedalus on the time taken by the British airship R.34 in July 1919, which set out from Scotland and landed at the Mineola air field in Long Island in 108 hours and 12 mins. I took the extra 32 hours off as the Daedalus has a more advanced propulsion system

A challenge indeed! A modern ship with good weather at full steam... I daresay we might pull off four days yet (but at what a cost of coal -- we need a sponsor!) But that same good weather would also be quite the boon to your airship!

Forgive me Sir, I was unable to attend last nights session. An illness took me and I retired early. I would though like to take you up on your challenge to a race. The departure and arrival ports to be decided at your discretion and convenience. The weather conditions ect. typical for this time of year. The glove is down Sir, and the game afoot and may the better male win!

An interesting idea, and if Bon Bon doesn't have a rail link, I can certainly see Mr. Blue sponsoring you. With his mine and no railroad it would be a long, difficult, backbreaking task to get mining machinery to the mine, not to mention supplying the miners with all the things they need. (food, clothing, shelter, fuel for heat, etc.)
