|
|
For the past week, I've had problems logging into the main web site, the forum, the blog, and the store like Misfit. The problem seems to alternate - if I can log into the site, then I can't log into the forum and vice versa. That's how come I missed last Saturday's chat. All I would get whenever I went to the site was: IE cannot display the webpage. I've tried refreshing the webpage and rebooting my computer but nothiing works. I've decided to post about it here for help while I'm still able to have access to the forum. I hope I'll be able to reach the forum tomorrow. |

Thanks for the post Tyger. I have still been having alternate problems also. Seems that if one site is down... maybe another is working. For about 3 days I could IE could not find any of the sites. I wonder what the deal is? |

Well. I've been experiencing similar problems too. But I learned that it was not a problem of our servers but in fact the local ISP - TimeWarnerCable.
They're DNS seems to be flakey lately.
It's so weird. I have 5 sites running on the same server. And yet, I couldn't access some of them. And eadultgames.com seemed to work fine. And then I realized also some other random websites like yahoo wouldn't work. But google would.
Try typing in "ipconfig /flushdns" on your cmd prompt. I did that and it helped. _________________ "Every exit is an entrance somewhere else." -Tom Stoppard

Umm, Ronald? Hi, it's me, your old buddy Tyger again.
I'm having the same trouble logging into the site. I've ran the ipconfig /flushdns command several times but still the same thing.
It seems as if I can only log into the first site [the main site, the forum (which I did today), or the blog], that'll be the only thing I'll be able to use the whole day. Like I said, I've used the ipconfig /flushdns command countless times w/o any success.
Please help. |

That's really odd. Have you tried doing a trace route to the website?
Find out if your service provider is experiencing any network issues.
to do a trace route you can type:
"tracert www.alleybaggett.net" from your cmd prompt if you're on a PC.
and then see what the route it. if you get *s then you know you have a bad route that drops packets. just do this a few times. to see.
what service provider are you using? ( how are you using the internet ? cablemodem, dsl, dialup, wireless internet?)
i've only experienced the above problem once. by that was because my local time warner cable screwed up.
i've seen the problem before on a verizon wireless internet card before, where i had to constantly disconnect from the service and reconnect to establish a reliable connection.
also- clear your disk cache. if you're only seeing the first page, and then not pages after, it could be you have the first page cached.
you've managed to login to the forum, so it must be working for you now?

Ronald, I use Windows IE7. I also use DSL.
I tried the tracert www.alleybaggett.net prompt you suggested but I haven't seen anything yet. The black box would appear for a sec with words in it (I saw the word "resolved") but would then disappear just as fast. I've done that a few times. I also try to clear my cache regularly.
It seems that I can switch from the main site to the forum and to the blog but I just can't go straight to either one of them; I have to go to another website for awhile and then go to the forum. I just can't bounce back and forth from the site to the forum and so forth. |

i ran it again. It said something like "Unable to resolve tracert www.alleybaggett.net" and I still can't switch from the site to the forum and back again. So what do I do now? |

Well. its rather weird. I'm not sure how you're able to even login and post on the forum.alleybaggett.net if you're having an unresolved tracert. Are you experiencing this problem with other websites as well?

Another suggestion is try releasing your IP and renewing your IP.

I ran the tracert prompt again when I minimized IE. It then ran through a series of numbers, none of whom I know anything about. You said if it ran a bunch of *s then it's a problem. Well I didn't see that. What now? |

well then you're fine now. if you run it again a few times see if the numbers or the locations that it goes through to get you the alley website changes. if it changes then you've got an unreliable ISP that changes routes on you.
so if you're not getting any *'s now. you are fine? cuz you're logged into the forum and posting okay. seems like its randomly happening to you- check with your service provider is all i can tell you. that's what i did. _________________ "Every exit is an entrance somewhere else." -Tom Stoppard
