Hmm. Spending a few years in a roleplaying game where there were humanoid races of frogs, tigers and lizards, among the humans, dwarves, imps, winged humans and a race similar to Tolkien's view on elves (and a few other races), a game that was my first real experience of "furry" characters, I have a rather biased view on how human they are. They all had characteristics of animals, but the basic skeletal structure of humans. The frogs had slimy skin, webbed extremities, and bulging eyes on wide faces; the lizards had scales, forked tongues, clawed feet (and often hands), pointed lizard faces with lizard eyes and no ears, and tails; the tigers had fur, feline faces with feline ears and eyes, paws instead of feet (and some had pawlike hands, though some had more human hands), and tails. I think I included all of the animalistic traits there. Other than that, they had human anatomy. Though really there was a wide variety, as it was completely text-based, so everyone could pen their own view on it.
Oh, and speaking of the "avoid logic part", big cats that can roar, such as lions and tigers, cannot purr due to the anatomy that allows them to roar. However, anthro lions and tigers often do. Most of the tigers in the above-mentioned game purred. So, yeah, logic is to be avoided.
I hope I haven't rambled on too long, but have also included everything I wanted to say.. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |

Heh, I didn't know that about the big cats. I guess I learned something new today.
But it's stuff like that I was thinking of. Those little details, whether it's how people view their own fursona, or whether it's how they generally view a certain species. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

There's a little more to it than this, though. Though it's true they don't have the actual "purrbox" ( ) and can't generate that sound, I'm told by owners that they can and do make sounds with the same apparent purpose. So it's not completely wrong for an anthro lion or tiger to "purr"... it's not the same sound but we don't have a word for what they do. _________________ http://harmlesslion.com |

Ah, fair enough. I hadn't heard that. Quite a lot of characters of the same race as Tadelesh in the game I created him in acted more like housecats than tigers, something which often rather irked Tade, who was proud of being a tiger (though did show some housecat behaviour himself at times). _________________ Wow, sarcasm! Personally, felines purring are probably the only kind of such animal sound I tend to ascribe anthro characters. I don't think of dogs barking or horses whinnying. Perhaps it's because those sounds seem a bit too animal, or because purring seems to often be used in a sensual way.
Likewise, it would be weird to me with an anthro cat meowing. I guess I tend to think of such noises as animal "language" and as such find them weird in an anthro character with human intelligence. _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

Wow, I'm a bit late to the party! I will admit I know little about kangaroos myself. The reason I decided Leon would be one is because I wanted to go with an angle many roos seem to have over looked in fanfiction or even in art is their most pronouced part isn't the tail, ears or in this case royal jewels, but the legs.
From my own personal opinion, a roo's legs are it's most noteable feature (Second place goes to the female's pouch), and when I was thinking of my persona not just for Bon Bon, but for Path of Darkness too, I wanted to put a lot of focus on Leon's legs, which as a anthro (And the fact his feet are the same large ones of a normal roo) can equal the force of a jackhammer crossed with a battering ram.
I know I'm not overing very much to the thread, but I did wanna share my two cents. _________________ Path of Darkness Chapter 12 is up! Read it here: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5240 |

Agreed Symphony. Though, the canines around here still pant uncontrollably when a bit of flesh is exposed. _________________ Oh, I'd tell myself

Good lord man, you'll put some of the ladies out of work if you tear through them like that. You can be firm and rough, but lets not get crazy. The ladies do need to be able to function after your visit for another gentleman, otherwise Betty would be out money, which would bring her wrath upon you.
And Martin, you never have to ask for forgiveness for your puns and jokes. You help keep the place lively. ^_^ _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Who said that strength is ever applyed outside of training or a fight, Labrn? I apreciate the concern for the ladys, but nether you nor them need worry about Leon ever being rough with a lady. _________________ Path of Darkness Chapter 12 is up! That's certainly an interesting trait. I have a little difficulty imagining how your avatar is going to look when it's done. I've seen only a couple of anthro kangaroos before, and I'm trying to get an idea of how such a character would look with Vanessa's style. The thing about the legs, and especially the feet being very large, made me look at your post in the avatar request thread, but there's no mention of it there. Shouldn't it be there as well, when this is so important to your fursona? _________________ Constance Mayflower's bio

Well, I never really fleshed him out so much in the intial bio (He's digigrade, BTW, his feet arch), but that's how things go with a charicter; You sometimes don't really flesh out your charicter until you sit down and really flesh them out. That's what my story is doing. As far as I'm concerned, I say Vanessa should be free to design his build any way she feels would let him fit in best with everyone else. _________________ Path of Darkness Chapter 12 is up! You are very truthful. Trying to decide a character's very nature...very soul...is quite the challenge. I didn't really now much about Brandon until the second to third bit of story i wrote about him. Now, he pretty much tells the story, i just write it. lol
As for your avatar, i can say you have nothing to worry about. Ms. Santato is a true master at putting life into a picture. I mean, the way she did the eyes of Brandon's pic, it was exactly as i imagined...expressive....intense..communicating his emotions in a glance...in a word...perfect!! |

I have total faith in Vanessa. Looking at her works that aren't even related to Bon Bon, I'm dead comited to the fact she's a artist, through and thrugh, and will have no trouble with Leon at all. If she ever does, I'm more than happy to answer her questions. _________________ Path of Darkness Chapter 12 is up! Read it here: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5240 |

Well, there's two ways to develop a character. You either develop a background for the character, so if you ever have any questions, you just look back at their history to help direct your answers and actions, such as Johnny or even Brandon to an extent it would seem.
The other option, once you have the image of your character, try some role playing, chatting and see what people like about the character, or at least how you portray the character. _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |
