Comic relief, huh? I don't know about "plucky", but...

I like the idea of the wizened old mentor, such a staple of action epics... though, not to sound critical or anything, but "Fei Yen" doesn't sound very Japanese...

you can always try a random name generator... here's a couple to try out...

http://nine.frenchboys.net/jaboy.php (has seperate pages for boy and girl names, and also a French name generator)

http://www.geocities.com/phillipriley/otngjap.html (generates a name and at least two titles associated with profession)

http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/namegen/969/ (one of the more popular ones, it requires inputing a your name to "translate")

btw, according to the last one, my Japanese name is Nakashima Amon. They also provide rough translations of the names along with how they're written in Kanji (Chinese script used in Japanese writing)
In my case, my result looked like this:
中島 Nakashima (center of the island) 亜門 Amon (asian gates)

Always remember that the Family name (the last name in most European languages) comes first, and the Given name comes last. It's like going by the name Smith John instead of John Smith. Casual acqaintances, for example, would call me "Amon", but in a more professional setting, such as co-workers, classmates (epecially underclassmen) or complete strangers, I would be refered to by my family name, "Nakashima". There is a very distinct protocol when in comes to what name you call someone, and calling someone by the wrong name may infer familiarity with the person you don't actually have, and may seem rude or impudent.
