I think I owe an explanation and an apology to the members I may have mislead here.
You see, I am used to message boards where avatars are often used to display one's likes, for example one's favorite model or character. That's why I've been finding the whole idea of a fursona a bit strange to me. I have never considered my choice of avatar here to be a sort of representation of who I am, and neither have I created a royal avatar for that purpose. It has always been to display what I like, what I find attractive.
In this I can see that I haven't thought my actions through, and that I have given a wrong impression of who I am, in that members use avatars in a different way than I'm used to. The thing is that I'm not female, despite my choice of female avatar. I have just always found female avatars more comfortable to use, when on a message board that deals with erotic content and themes.
I don't want to display my gender on any of the message boards I'm a member of. I prefer to be seen as just another member, and not be judged by whether I'm male or female, but neither is it in my interest to mislead people. That's why I'm posting this, as I can see that I have done just that.
I'd like to apologize to any who feel mislead by my choice of avatar, and who feel that I have given the wrong impression of who I really am. I really just want to be seen as just another member of this community, no matter what my avatar is.

You worry too much hun. Its alright. I have two characters, one male and one female.
Its nothing out of the ordinary. What interaction we tend to do is based towards your fursona, other than when folks give someone a hug on their birthday and such.

Okay, that is good to know. And I really have no problem with people interacting with my avatar. I just want to be honest about it. I have seen people on other boards trying to appear as something they are not, especially guys who try to appear as if they are female, and I've never liked such behaviour.
On any other board I probably wouldn't have posted a thread like this, because I'd see it as people's own fault if they had a wrong impression of me based on my avatar. But it's different here, I think. At least from my impression of fursonas and members so far.
And I have been wondering if I'm the only one here who does this, or if anyone else have picked a fursona or avatar that was just someone of the opposite sex that they'd find hot and would like to see Vanesaa draw.

Actually, I had a feeling for a while that you were a male rather than a female, Symphony, but I never felt a need to bring it up. I suppose it was never that important to me whether or not you (or any of the other members of the boards, for that matter) happen to be of a certain gender or not. I've met lots of people on message boards who use avatars or even fursonas that are the opposite gender, and don't think I've ever run into any problems with that. Hell, my best friend always plays female characters in MMORPGs, just because the models look nicer than male ones.
Actually, to be brutally honest, I tend to think that about 50% of the "females" that I meet or converse with online are actually guys. Whether it's due to a simple misunderstanding (like Symphony's case) or actual full-on "gender-play" on the part of the other user... well, that's a whole other discussion.
Also, don't mind Labrn... he can be a bit "handsy" at times, but he's harmless... *nudges Labrn* just kidding

I wasn't expecting anyone to really be upset at me because of this, but it's still nice to get positive responses anyway. 
I'd usually say that my way of posting would likely give away that I'm male, but I haven't been a member here for very long, and I haven't posted about that many personal things or interests, so I can understand if someone wouldn't really be sure.
And the thing about picking female models in games is really just what I do here, in a way. I prefer to have something attractive to look at next to my posts, and I look forward to the day when I can see Vanessa draw my personal idea of a sexy addition to the four aces suite.

An Avatar is a way to show ourselves in a different way from what we are, else we'd put our photo in the icon ^-^.
Moreover I have to confess that while I draw many girls my favorite characters are all male: Red, Dorian, William and Simon too.

Thank you, Vanessa, and you're right about the avatars.
I just haven't been sure of exactly how others here looked at their own fursonas and the fursonas of others, and then I felt guilty about how I realized that I could be giving the wrong impression. And I couldn't just ignore it and let people keep thinking that I'm female, because that would be the same as if I was lying, I think.

Honestly. You have nothing to worry about Symphony. I'd think the amount of replies, heartfelt answers and interest that the other members have shown you upon your arrival and interactions would put any fear to rest about such matters.

Thanks. I wasn't really worried that anyone would truly be upset, but since I still consider myself somewhat new to this community and to the use of fursonas, I thought that I'd offer an explanation and an apology in case someone felt a little mislead. With this being the internet, and since I like this place and don't want to cause any misunderstandings, I felt that a humble approach wouldn't hurt.
