Hello all, My name is Sha`Kaar.
I am pleased to be here, just joined up a few days ago, and have enjoyed what i have seen thus far.
I am never sure what to say about myself, but i keep a fairly open view on life, so feel free to ask me anything and you will most likely get an answer.

Greetings new comer.
First question shall be, what does your name mean, and how did you come across going by that name? _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Thankyou all for your Warm Greetings and Salutations.
As for my name, there is two sides to the coin. IRL and my Persona,
IRL It was rather simple, I am an Avid D&D player, and it was the name i gave to one of my Favorite Characters. And I felt it suited me when i discovered the Furry Side within me.
Persona wise, It was the name given to me when i was born into Slavery, Then after i managed to regain my freedom, i felt keeping it would show the strength of my soul. Its kind of a statement of Pride and Strength, for people to know me by a slaves name, and know me to be free. |

Bienvenidos, amigo.
And before I start, which part of the name is which? I am sure to butcher it... _________________ "Doktor! Are you sure this will work?!" "HAHA! I HAVE NO IDEA!" |

By what do you mean by which part is which?
If you mean to pronounce it, it is done as so,...
Sha`Kaar
Sha (very very brief pause) Car
If that is not what you meant by your question, could you rephrase your meaning? |

I think it's a single world, Kommy... like a Vulcan or Klingon name, or (closer to home) an Irish or Scottish surname.
Of course, I could be mistaken. |

Interesting. Myself, I too am an avid D&D player, so I can respect the generation of the name.
As far as how Kommy was mistaken, I beleive since you were giving two reasons for the name, she may have thought "sha" was the D&D name and "Kaar" was the fursona half. Or something to that extent. _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Of coarse. What else do you play? LARP? Vampire? Various online MMORPGs? _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Gosh,.. what a long question
Well for Table top i play and/or have played; Starwars, Startrek, D&D(2nd thru to 3.5), Shadowrun, Heroes unlimited, Rifts, Most the White-Wolf Titles (Werewolf, Changeling, Mage, Vampire, Hunters, Wraith, Mummy), Serenity, Stargate, Various Anime & Mecha, Ghostbusters.
For Live actions i have done some Fantasy D&D LARP, Werewolf LARP, Changeling LARP, and a Starwars LARP.
Most my Online RPG's have been White-Wolf's "New Bremen" from thier main website, Mostly Werewolf (where i became an On-Line Storyteller) and Changeling. I have done a few Play by Post Games done from Message Boards like this one.
Thats i think all of it,... though i am sure i am missing a Table top Game or Two.
Is there a Play By Post Here? Cause if not i am sure it would be a fun way for everyone to RP in Character more.
What have you done before Labrn Mystic? |

First off, theres nothing wrong with pencil and dice games Bestile. ^_^
I still enjoy D&D and various other games without the aid of the internet.
Tabletops, I've mostly just played D&D. I tried Starwars, but it never got off the ground. We've got a few BESM games that tried to get off the ground, but it seems if I'm not the one DMing a game, it never lasts more than a week or two.
Otherwise, the most "Tabletop" games we do are Heroscape, WoW the Boardgame, D&D Miniatures, various card games such as Magic/Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. Games from all over the spectrum, including Warhammer which a few other members her also play, such as Kommy, and I know Herisheft at least paints them, but I'm not sure if she plays.
I've only LARPed Vampire: The Masquerade (sp?) though I've LARPed a few scenes from D&D.
I havn't really played any true online RPGs, though I try to play my character in various online games, such as WoW and Ultima.
As far as Play by Post, no we don't have anything like that here. There was once a chatroom, but it was put down. The reason being is for security reasons. Ronald would prefer such things to not be associated with the site.
Myself, I can be found on Deviant Art (as well as Fur Affinity): http://labrnmystic.deviantart.com/
A few other members can be found on DA, as well as Vanessa, so be sure to cheer her on DA if you happen to visit. I can be called on to Role Play online, though it is prefered for it to not be associated with the site for safety and security. So, if interested, you'd have to find us somewhere else. And NO we can't post our e-mails, for the same reasons. ^_^ _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Ah, a man of the classical persuasion. Nothing wrong with good old fashion dice Bestile. Though I'm so out of practice I doubt if I can remember how to roll them properly. Gonna get enough soon though, joining a Rifts game. The GM promises that there won't be any power-gaming. Right. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

Paper and Pencil is the only true way to game.
I Have played a smattering of other Card and Board style games, my Mate is a very good Magic: The Gathering Player, he is actually a level 2 qualified Judge.
I also play Warhammer,... I play Dark Eldar,.... I have a thing for Evil,.. i seem to always gravitate towards it.
I can understand no chatroom or email's etc, for security reasons. Though Play By Post is pretty much what we are doing now,... you simply have a Board Topic, and people post in it actions and speech, doing it in character. Generally you keep it clean and PG. Its biggest downside is though that it can create very large Board topics, that some people can get annoyed with having to read pages of stuff looking for anything that involves there character.
I browse DA a bit, maybe i will look around for some familiar names.
And Xebulon, when isn't Rifts a Power Game,.... i mean geez,.. Mega Damage? *Smiles* Mind you,.. its still a fun game. Hope it goes well for you. |

Blegh, Dark Eldar. Pointy-eared-space-wackos. My friend's keep telling me to assemble a Necron army. Give me Space Marines of Imperial Guard any day. But, to each his (or her, in Kommy's case) own.
The best (and worst) example of power-gaming can be summed up in two words. Cosmo Knight. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

When you need help with power gaming, that's when you pull out your "Bribe the GM with food" card. I've gotten my characters some good perks, by doing that. _________________ -[There is no normal life, there's just life... You live it the best you can.]- |

*Laughs* Thats so funny you say that, I was looking through my old Gaming sheets a few weeks back, and found an IOU from my DM, he gave me 500 XP for a Pizza Pop |

I'm hoping to pull out a couple of things from the NEMA era (Palladium's Chaos Earth setting, basically right after the rifts on Earth opened). Lotta cool stuff in there. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

I've known GMs, who've gone beyond power gaming, then. Especially when they bring in certain things, that use Giga Damage. _________________ -[There is no normal life, there's just life... You live it the best you can.]- |

Cool stuff aside,.. all you really need is a cool character gimmick and the game will always be fun. I once had a Dog Soldier (Cant recall thier actual name) and he had a shock baton,... well he would often absentmindedly chew on it and zap him self,.. it was a fun quirk to RP.
But you can never go without some cool stuff.
*Cringes at the thought of GIGA Damage* |
