Well- I am not a happy camper right now.

My computer crashed and I had planned to update the bonbon site with Scarlett Blut section for tomorrow.

Data is on a Raid HD on my other computer so I can't exactly get the hard drive connected to my laptop at all.

Anyways... thats the bad news.... not sure if I have good news.

At least the computer company decided to give me a new motherboard even though my warrenty expired by a few weeks.

More soon. Typing from my laptop right now.

I'm sorry to hear that, Ronald, not for the lack of updates it means but for the inconvinience it must cause you. I am glad to hear you are getting a new motherboard, though, so hopefully you won't be inconvinienced for to much longer.

I'm sorry about your computer. There's also a time when my computer was attacked by a virus and I have to reformat everything and deleting my old files. It took me months to get all of my old and new files back. WHAT A BUMMER. ):

I'm sorry to hear that Ronald. I do hope you manage to get your computer working again soon (and without having to pay an arm and a leg). I'm sure nobody will mind the updates being a little late.

update on my situation.

I got a different board BUT.... my raid hard drives will not load up....

the boot drive is off of it...

had a separate install of windows on another drive... and it is not reading the raid harddrive....

i know i am going to have to spend some time doing driver installations probably for the raid controller.... thats my guess... hope it is not the worst case situation...

harddrive/failure or virus corruption.

Well that's simply horrible. I hope you can clear that all up soon. I too know all to well how a crash can be annoying. My other laptop keeps saying "Error Loading Operation System" everytime I turn it on.

Boy, seems like everyone's having the worst luck lately.

I had a Sgt. of mine have his hardrive crash, or so he thought. The case for his hardrive ended up frying out, so he place it in a new casing, and the hardrive worked perfectly again.

I've been out of computer repair for too long to offer anything that hasn't already been suggested. Best of luck to you Ronald.

Okay- latest info.

I managed to get another fresh new harddrive from the store....

Got a different window reinstallation on another drive- that I got drivers loaded for the mother board... manged to read the data off the raid drive.....

Raid drive - stripe setup was just a stupid mistake. I shouldn't have made the boot drive the raid stripe. lesson learned on that.... I was going for the speed hoping to launch application faster read files faster....

but in the end its not a smart thing to do.

i'm still waiting for my motherboard (exact part) replaced... but i might be able to mirror/ghost image the raid drive's boot/data to the this other new harddrive.

hopefully i'll be able to at least boot up on safe mode now- since its not a 'raid stripe setup. and then install the new motherboard drivers.

arghh long process.... complex too. ergg.

I think I got it to work...

Maxtor harddrive was a great purchase.... it came with a harddrive boot cloning....

I think I got it to work !

The trick was get a new harddrive (1)....
put windows as a fresh install on that.... it'll go through loading up raid drivers, motherboard drivers, etc..... this will allow me to get a working windows system, and also be able to read the old drive that was stripe mode raid.

plug in the raid hard drive (old drive that i used to boot from).

get another new harddrive (2)....
using the maxtor cloning software-

i managed to copy/clone the boot drive of the stripe raid to the newharddrive(2) essentially removing it from stripe.

and viola... i can finally boot up.... but now i must go through some crappy new device stuff- and install motherboard drivers again to the old boot.... at least it seems to be working so far....

gonna get rid of the old stripe raid.... that was a pain in the butt.... i should be able to update the next page bonbon on time! yay.

and hopefully get the scarlett blut section soon after i take care of bills and such.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I keep a steel thread umbrella in the closet. Also useful for when it rains fish and they turn out to be piranah.
