|
|
In one of my earlier post i asked if anyone wanted to know what the story behind my name was and Xeb suggested that i might create a post for everyone to join in on... here it is.
Mine is simple and actually not that exciting... a Bestile is a fictional creature similar to a werewolf except instead of going from human to half animal they change from animal to half human... and any species can be one not just wolves... i believe that the original creation of these creatures was by John Peel in his Diadem series... and i am certain i have spelled it wrong |

The term I'd always heard for such beings was "Wolfwere". I don't know where I first heard/read it, but it always stuck me as rather lacking in imagination. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

My name is one that I've been using since 1998 with StarCraft battle.net. When I first started the account, Itried to use the name 'Gargos', as that was the name of a gargoyle-like character (go figure) from the N64 game Killer Instinct 2. It was taken. Not being one willing to use numbers or l33t speak, I tried different permutations of the name until I got frustrated and stabbed my keyboard like a piano. Gantros came up, so I tried it, and it worked! Ever since, the name Gantros has almost never been used in whatever online application I have used, or I use Dark Gantros.
The surname Obscura came from the Latin word for shadow. Coming to this surname was from a somewhat unique anime I was watching around 2002, Zoids. The final 'villain' in the series was named Vega Obscura, and I just borrowed the name for it's Latin meaning. _________________ Most have only two choices in life, a life of happiness, or a life of meaning. Mine is simply the name of my first furry creation, though Gray has been an alias of mine for some time. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

As for mine, well, I was trying to get a new self-image to connect to my comic-making, so I basically switched my name around the way Lewis Carroll did. Oh, and no, I'm not gonna tell you my REAL name |

Mine is just badly pronoced name of egyptian god of river banks and lakes Heryshef
I was once in national museum and i really liked the small figure of some antelope headed god, i read the description and then remembered badly ^^; Later, somewhere on the internet they demanded a nickname, and my previous one (real nick gaved by people) 'Alien' egsisted in millions of forms with numbers and other shit around it(if somebody is interested from where it camed then just ask), so I decided to use the name which i liked so much; Herisheft
With weird luck, i changede the male name into female one, since only women had 'ft' on the end of their names, at least that's what one of my friends told me and she really knew what she was saying when it camed to ancient egyptian culture, she was also the one to remind me the name which i misspelled
so from that day long in the past I function under this nickname and so far I am the only Herisheft on the net =^.^= _________________ "Ia! Ia! Kothulhu Herishtagn!" - by BlekDef

I don't think you'll get much pushing to reveal it, Martin. I also don't think you'll find anyone else here revealing their real name. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

To be honest,I thought I had invented my first name "Foxonian".Only later after doing a google search did I found out that it was a name belonging to a heritical branch of the Quaker religion of all things. My last name "Vallincourt" is the name of my grandmother's family based in Montreal Quebec CA. |

I think I mentioned it once before, but as I don't remember where I'll repost it here. I got the name Xebulon Burke from an old history textbook I had in highschool. On one page, in one paragraph, there was an excerpt about an explorer in Virginia, during the time of the Lewis and Clarke explorations, named Zebulon Burke. I have never been able to find any more information about his and all I can remember is that there's some hill or something named for him somewhere in Virginia. This is the first time I've used the name and the change from a Z to an X was purely whimsical.
As to my secret identity, since it really doesn't bother me if people know, it's Shaffer (shay-fur). _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

Mine is the moniker i used when I entered writing contests in high school. Just sort of stuck. The '12' came in when trying to use it online. |

I got my name from a close friend of mine who I used to hang out with on the fur mucks who suggested it to me and the name has pretty much become a part of me since then that was almost 9-10 years ago. Originally the character Ksathra was a white tiger but over time I evolved him into the dark furred fox that I use today. Though I find it interesting when I looked up the name and it's meaning the name of Ksathra is Babylonian and it means "King" or "Ruler". |

Interesting. Both Ksathra and Herisheft have regal names. Excellent choices, I would say. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

Labrn Mystic = Martyr of Vengeance and Glory.
Giving myself in the name of those I love and care for who have been wronged in very theatric and over the top ways.
As far as spelling goes, it was originally Labryn, but alot of the games I played only allow a max of 5 characters, so it became Labrn. Just think of it as a long "N" _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

And bright angel... Because I always wear white or lightblue and the people say I am shiny to much. |

Ooo fun learning about everyones names.
Hmmm I go by 2 handles usually... Jinx... due to an unfortunate propensity for electronics to cease functioning for no explainable reason in my presence. I have a lifetime ban against me from entering certain server rooms.
And Littlefox.... well I too am a furry artist The man I apprenticed to years and years ago went under the pen name of Baron William Blackfox. When I'd make it to events he was at, I would always be found at his feet, practicing and him critiquing my work. His friends started laughing and saying, Hey Blackfox has a little fox. The name stuck He died some time ago and I have since kept the name in remembrance of him. _________________ Dance Dance Industrial Revolution!!!! |

Think I've mentioned this elsewhere, but my peculiar nickname was given to me by a particularly loved high school teacher years ago. He dressed as though the 1950s never ended and was a veteran of WWII. Due my fondness for wearing bright red, he enjoyed calling me a commie constantly. I learned Russian just to indulge him.
When it came time to pick a name for myself, I just altered the spelling to make it look more like a name than an epithet. _________________ "Doktor! Are you sure this will work?!" "HAHA! I HAVE NO IDEA!" |

Tursi was chosen cause, at the time I needed an alias, I really liked dolphins. Tursi is short for Tursiops Truncatus - which is the latin name for the Bottlenose dolphin.
When I later decided lion suited my persona better, I kept the name. _________________ http://harmlesslion.com |

I was fortunate enough to meet the good baron the one year I made it out to Pensic Wars. He was kind enough to wedge me in for a sketch even though it was getting dark. It was saddening to hear he'd died, he was one of the best, a big, bluff, cheerful fellow. _________________ I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy. |
