We all have an angel and a devil on our shoulder, after a fashion, even Dr.Jekyll/Mr.Hyde. The only difference is their physical and vocal size. I shudder to think of the sizes of Dr.Jekyll's/Mr.Hyde's shoulder angels and devils.

Alright, I'll make this as short as possible first then, if you have any questions afterward, I'll do my best to answer them. William/Wilson has arrived at Blue Manor, been hired as butler, has met Mary, who promptly fainted after they both received quite a shock, and William/Wilson is in the process of reviving her and having somewhat of an identity crisis between his money grubbing and cowardly self and his newfound sex crazed self, the later being his devil on his shoulder, so to speak. And yes, Carrie, I agree, spoiling stories is one of the epitomes of evil, at least in my book.

One of the most long lived and enjoyable arguments I've come across and participated in is the predicament of Dr.Jekyll. He says he does'nt enjoy what his other half does when released yet he keeps drinking his "damnable potion", as I heard him phrase it in the version of the book I read, showing that he does enjoy what happens, maybe not the consequences of Mr.Hyde's actions but the feeling of freedom, carelessness and power that comes with the transformation, hence the reason why he keeps drinking. It was even theorized that the potion itself may have been addictive, such as nicotine, alcohol or narcotics, but I believe it was the result of the potion, not the potion itself, that Dr.Jekyll was addicted to. Another argument was about the "damnable potion" itself and wether or not Dr.Jekyll had a split personality and if that was the reason another persona asserted itself whenever he transformed and wether or not a person without a split personality would transform with his mind intact or not.

To quote Labrn, "the scent of a woman", that would be my guess. Methinks almost any erotic thought, image or sight of a woman would also be a danger to him in that regard, given his newly found and precariously maintained sex drive.
