Well. I went to see Man of Steel today.
I hate to say this but it was terrible. Very disappointing.
I was hoping it would actually be good. I had my doubts but the trailer looked good.
After watching it. I have to say the story/dialogue/plot was bad.
The action was pretty good. Best superman flying fighting scenes of all superman movies. (Most of the action you can get from watching the last Matrix movie.)
But it doesn't make up for the weak story and dialogue and bad acting.
The movie also broke one of the major #1 rule of Superman.
***Spoilers***
Superman never kills. But in this movie he actually broke that rule.
I do not recommend watching it.
What are your thoughts on the movie? (if you've seen it already)
Did you like it? Hate it?

I lol'd. I knew this would be the outcome from the moment I read about this new Superman movie. Looking over the cast list I shook my head. Reading the write ups and watching the trailers, all of these I facepalm'd at because they were simply terrible. _________________

Superman is a coward. A thief. and a Murderer in this movie.
1. If I had that Superpowers, I wouldn't be standing around watching him (his father) die to save myself from the world out to kill me. I would go save him. I would at least be the Blur and super speed to save him. Instead this superman stood by to watch his father die. What if it was a person other than his father. So it's okay to reveal your powers to a bunch of kids and save a bunch of kids. But not okay to save your father?
2. Superman is a thief. He decides to go through people's stuff (no respect for other people's things) and takes their clothes and walks off? He also destroys the Drone instead of disabling it or bringing it down to the ground.
3. Superman is a murderer. Not only does he kill his own people (destroying the Genesis ship that would repopulate krypton on a new world) he also kills Zod violently. Instead of figuring out how to neutralize him.
Man of Steel sends out the wrong messages.
Whatever happened to we are better than they are. and we are better than this. or if kill it makes us no different from them. _________________ "Every exit is an entrance somewhere else." -Tom Stoppard

My dad tried to push me to go see this movie, now I am glad I didn't. I grew up with the Superman who was quick both in mind and in his actions as he jumped into the fray to save a person in need. Sure he had to change from his alter ego, Kent Clark, but in the old shows, it was like a ten second transition. Movies these days do their best to show the worst in everyone lately. _________________

((Roland,
I dunno... I watched it and thought it was a very well restart of Superman. It made him more human, by having him start a bit more reclusive and withdrawn... as if he was still struggling with how to deal with his super-powered nature in a world of normals. To me, at least, it made sense. Up to the arrival of Zod, anytime he used his powers, something poor happened. For me, it was a well-developed idea of a "mixed blessing".
Yes, he blows up drones... but he destroys machines all the time.
Yes, it was out-of-character for him to deal with Zod the way he did... but the writers did paint themselves into a corner as well, and only really left Superman that one option as a way out.
And, Clark respected his father, both his natural father and his adoptive one. To me, it showed just how much Superman wanted to do the right thing. Instead of saving one person... he suffered the ultimate sacrifice by saving the majority of those under the bridge.
So, I enjoyed it. Was it the Silver Age Superman. No. But, was it a strong, powerful, courageous Superman protecting his adoptive planet while balancing his own needs? Yes. )) |
