Is it me or does it feel like the forum is starting to become a bit more difficult to post in since alot of members have been leaving lately? I mean, not leaving leaving, but leaving where they barely have time to actually start or comment on threads?

This forum was bustling madly when I joined... hmm, over 2 years ago now?

These days it seems that new people come, peek in the door and then either lose interest or simply forget. Then there are the "regulars". Some folks drop by now and again, comment on a new comic page, and then aren't seen again until the next new page. A couple even drop in and post in an RP that has been going for the better part of several months but gets attention once every handful of weeks. Others come and go like bursts of wind. They "return" for a couple of days and then are gone again.

It seems as though many of the regular attendants of this forum have either very little interest in the RP forum or are so busy that they can't spare 10-30 to minutes to read a few posts and maybe even write their own.

Thats kinda how it feels. I try to keep up with the posts since I am off and on busy with everything in life. I don't want this place to die anytime so. Still, everybody has a life and its hard to ask people to force themselves to post here.

Unfortunately there's nothing members of the forum can do to liven things up except hope. I tried making a game thread here in the general section in the hopes that at least a couple of people might show some interest in a little bit of intellectual stimulation. But that crashed and burned like almost everything else.

I'm sad to say it, but for all intents and purposes, this forum is dead. If not for Vanessa making the comic, I doubt there'd even be as many people as there is now because at least half of the attendance is "oh, a new page /comment".

That is what's so depressing. I have been here for years, and I finally feel like I'm more connected. Now it feels like those good times are fading.

As bad as it sounds, Silvador is right.

Life is the biggest factor to most members not being able to hold much interest or conversation in these forums, whereas some time ago the spot was chock full of any sort of conversation. It might also be the new method for making accounts in these forums, since only paying members or people who signed up to read the comic have access to make an account here. The Troll Bridge method to have gotten rid of the Bot accounts and spams made the forums much cleaner and peaceful, but it's cut our forum membership base by a pretty large number.

You think Ronald might take it down in hopes of increasing memberships down here in the forums?

Hmm... I still think it could be a good idea, but that's about as far as it goes. An idea.

I hate to say it, but most of us have just moved on. I know I've tried coming back several times, but the forums just didn't have the same feeling they did when I signed up. I guess as the times change, so do people and There's nothing we can realy do to stop that. So I say we toast to the great times we've had and hope for a better future for this site. Who's with me?

I am afraid I have to agree. When I joined this site was very busy, as much as 20 or 30 postings a day.
But as Mayfield stated people move on, it would seem it is the same throughout the furry scene. Fewer conventions, sites and artists.
It is just life.

At least some good news remain on that as few as we are, we still hang around, even if not posting as much or putting much attention here as we'd like.

Some Regulars are better than no regulars, to a point.

Because a room full of silent people is SO much better than a room full of no people.

I guess it is true that for awhile, the furry idea was either discriminated against too much or was just a fad for people to follow along. I still want to remain here for as long as possible. Things are getting really hard for alot of people, especially when it comes to money.

Things in general seem to be really slipping, lately. Life seems to be crapping on so many people. However, though artists may come and go, I believe the furry fandom will always be around and as long as there are people to be interested in it (and buy art of it) there will always be someone to draw and make new art. Unfortunately, that doesn't help this forum very much. None the less, I endeavour to remain here, regularly checking up, hoping for some life to suddenly spill through the bleak clouds.

If a million people put a dollar in a bank account, there'd be a million dollars in the bank account. But if those million people thought "someone else will put a dollar in", then the bank account would remain empty because no one put any money in. The same concept applies to forums. If the forum runs dry and people begin to leave because other people are leaving, there will be no one there in no time. But if everyone stopped and thought "well, maybe some other people will come along so I'll stick around", there'd always be people here.

I try to frequent the forums every day, though some times I'm just too busy and have no time to read and keep up with new things.

But that's starting to change and I should be around more often, though it's still an uphill battle keeping the forums alive.

As for furries it really hasn't died down at all, it's just not as advertised because of the drama, and the chance of attracting people who just want to have a reason to mess with people, there are a lot of cons every year, plus more little get togethers.

were busy, or getting tired and bore of the place,
or just getting old, the place is nice still
it could be people share alot of things already or can't think up
something that they already said.

and people know I talk to much already, and sounds like a old man hating new games and remakes films... "back in my days Doom and Duke Nukem was the real deal, now you got Halo, and those greasy muddy lookin graphics trying to look "realistic" bears of wars and modern war unfair"

lol sadly that's the case even just 10 years time now instead of the 30-40 years that it used to be.

I was generally a poster in spurts more than a constant voice. Another thing to consider are the talking points for a good topic. Constance tended to be very good at coming up with some good questions about the Bon Bon universe, but after a point every question is met with an answer. Also, in the beginning of my membership there weren't as many issues released and there was still a lot one could speculate about. As time passes, the unpainted canvas starts filling in and the mystery is washed away with the colors that change it from possibility to reality.

And yes, there's life as well. Not to mention one can also take it as a sign of piracy's impact on the site. Fewer people would be seeing the payoff in investing in a site and community when they can find the paid content for free. Overall, though, I'd say the general furry communities I've encountered have all been wonderful. Earth Eternal and Antilia are really my only other exposure than PBB, but still very devoted and helpful people.

Sadly, my membership may be coming to an end and I can't say it if'll be permanent or not.

I'm usually here though tend to lurk around.

Honesty I haven't really had a good conversion on here for quite sometime.
And the ones I do see I'd prefer to not say anything. Either I'm busy or just don't have a say in the conversation.

I recall when I first joined, this place was fun and there was always something interesting or silly to talk about, everything from games, to just a random pie fight.

This place is where I first joined the fandom, I've meet awesome people here and frankly it kinda sucks that it's become this way.

Heh, there was a point where I would post so often that you would see the general part of the forum filled with either answers or questions of my own.

That is'nt the case since there is'nt as much new content. Then again, maybe its the membership, ie, us, the forum goers that are becoming boring maybe?

I'm not saying that is the case, but I guess since we have not gotten too many members, its hard to come up with anything new that we have'nt already talked about, so it becomes a rather stale conversation quickly.

It's a possibility.

Maybe we just have gotten tired from the same old routine? The same old faces? That sounds rather harsh but could be true.

Even the Rps are slow, and the last member that was here for a good while was Reina.

Well, it seems to me that the problem is lack of people. If we could get more members on here, I'm sure the forums would start growing back to what it was before. More people would also be able to churn out more ideas for conversation, rps, or just laughs.

*EDIT*

I also think that while Ronald's endeavors to make the forums bot proof, they might have also become new member proof. Has anyone tried to see what it even takes to signup now?

Yeah I went through it when I joined.

did all the stuff and waited months, had to e-mail Ronald about it to finally get my account activated.

I know he has a lot on his plate so it's understandable, but it also hurts the forums in that he is basicly moderating it by himself and things get missed on a regular basis.

I don't post that much anymore. I think it has to do with how the majority of the people I used to interact with, just slowly started disappearing. Now I usually don't even feel like commenting, even if there's something that may be of interest. I guess I've lost my connection to this place Crying or Very sad

Way back when I started, there were still quiet times. Sometimes the RP threads were the only ones getting added to. Still, it wasn't as quiet as it is now.

As for making new threads, I don't really have anything I care that much to talk about. It's like it's all been discussed. I used to make threads about different things involving fursonas. Later I just started losing interest in what people would respond with. I think it may have had something to do with people creating multiple fursonas and posting answers for all of them. I simply lost interest in the fursonas, and as such in the answers given.

I've considered starting some threads in the Geneal forum, about other interest, like books or such, but I've never actually done anything about it.

Actually, Constance brings up a good point. I think I pretty much started getting disconnected when people went on the multi-fursona binge. When I had first joined the sites, I was mostly a lurker on the forum and then my membership lapsed for a long time. Upon my return, I started using the forums. Still, in all that time, pretty much everybody I can recall had a single fursona. People built that fursona that would be integrated into the comics and with that creation came almost a connective point to understand who that person was. The were still additional fursonas, but generally as background story characters, not 20 different ones for the same person. Now it feels like you don't have a face for a name anymore and it makes it harder to establish that same level of personal connection. Anyways, I have an idea that I may become more active in a long neglected part of the forum. Now that I'm unemployed, I may start writing short stories to hone my writing in preparation for a novel I've long had stuck in my head.
