I mostly listen to classic rock. Rush is one of my favorite bands of all time. I have most of their albums and I also have a Rush live concert video on dvd called A Show of Hands. I’ve haven’t been to one of their concerts yet though, but I’ve been to a couple of Queensryche concerts. I also went to a Dream Theater concert once on their Images and Words tour, but I don't really listen to them much. I think Wait for Sleep is probably my favorite Dream Theater song. I'd like to see their latest live concert video Live at Budokan. It came out earlier this year and it already went platinum in the U.S. In the U.S., their concert videos sell better than their albums. Their only album to go gold in the U.S. was Images and Words, according to http://www.riaa.com. But, as for their concert videos, ‘Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York’ has gone gold, and ‘Live at Budokan’ has gone platinum already. It’s the same way with Steve Vai. His ‘Live at the Astoria’ live concert video came out last year and it has already gone platinum. His biggest selling album ‘Passion and Warfare‘ has only gone gold and that’s his only album to go gold. I saw ‘Live at the Astoria’ a couple of months ago and it was great. I’ve also seen Joe Satriani in concert once and I also have his live concert video ‘Live in San Francisco’ on dvd. That’s a good video too.

I havent heard of them before, ill have to look them up

Some of my favorite Rush songs are Subdivisions, Limelight, Vital Signs, Tom Sawyer, and The Spirit Of Radio, but they have a lot of really great songs.

I also forgot to mention earlier that i saw Steve Vai in concert once too. I've been to a lot of concerts. I was just watching an Eagles concert earlier tonight on tv and when they played Joe Walsh's 'Life's Been Good' it reminded me of when i went to a Joe Walsh concert once.

I'll get you Dream Theater to listen to! Wink

Curious what you think. Cool

Rush, Queensryche and Dream Theater are bands that mainly get around from their concert and album sales. They are not popbands, but most of the time have a firmer fan base.
Queensryche once had a small hit with the song 'Silent Lucidity' and made the soundtrack of the movie Last action Hero 'Real World' .
But they decided they didn't want to be a popband and they released a very 'heavy' dark album called 'Promised Land' to get rid of their popfans. Tongue

Too bad you missed the 30th Aniversary tour of Rush. I saw it last year and they had a very cool show with video lasers and fire. Cool
You should take a look at the Rush in Rio DVD. Although it doesn't even capture half the atmosphere of the real live show.
My favourite song of Rush is Dreamline. Razz

Got those Queensryche albums. Been losing track of them lately. Do they have new material out?

Rush. I've never heard of it. My co-worker is an ex US mariner, and he listens to classic rock all the time, he's a bit older than me. I think I am gonna lent some cds from him of Rush.

Running Dream Theater through Kazaa now....

Do you have the Queensryche album Operation Mindcrime? I played that cd so much it almost falls apart. There is a general theme/story from start to finish, quite interesting how they did that.

Just a funny fact. This album was recorded in the Wisseloord studios in Holland! Wink

The new Queensryche albums aren't very great. They are supposed to be working on a new concept album again...Mindcrime II Shocked Sounds awfull! Confused

Rush is a band with many different aspects. To be honest you can't compare them with any other band. I must say their early albums are more rock orientated. Personally I like 'Roll The Bones' a lot.

Try http://www.dreamtheater.net. These guys will make your jaw drop.
Their keyboardplayer is a wizzkid that went to Juliard school of music at age 8 and found Mozart wasn't putting enough notes in music. Laughing

Anyways I gave Martina some music to listen to so she can give her opinion if she want to and has time. Would be great if you could! Wink
Anyways enjoy the music!
Keep on rockin' Cool

Resist from Test for Echo is great song too. I also like acoustic version of it on Rush in Rio. I haven’t seen the Rush in Rio dvd yet, but I will. I like the Roll the Bones album a lot too. There are some great songs on the album.

I love Queen. These are some of my favorite Queen songs: Nevermore, I’m in Love With My Car, The Prophet's Song, Sweet Lady, Now I'm Here, Fight from the Inside, Liar, Death On Two Legs, The March of the Black Queen, Stone Cold Crazy, Tie Your Mother Down, Keep Yourself Alive, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Somebody To Love, Under Pressure, Play The Game, All Dead, All Dead, Fat Bottom Girls, You’re My Best Friend, Another One Bites The Dust, Seven Seas of Rhye, Sheer Heart Attack, Flick of the Wrist, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Hammer to Fall, Great King Rat, Ogre Battle and others as well ...

I think that Freddie Mercury is the greatest rock and roll singer of all time, and Brian May is very very underrated and he is definitely one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time.

They did some concerts here in Europe again. The vocals were taken by Paul Rogers. Known from the classic song "all right now" and he sang in band like Free an Bad Company. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go, but it seems it wasn't bad.

Queen once did a secret gig here in Amsterdam on Queensday, with the dutch girl Treinntje Oosterhuis Wink on vocals, but that was very very bad. Crying or Very sad

Paul Rogers is a great singer. I saw him with The Firm once a long time ago, and also once with Bad Company when the opened up for Deep Purple. I still listen to Bad Company all the time

No no... darn hackers...

He's American and makes a lot of parodie songs.
So he uses the original and put his own funny lyrics on them.
What If God Was One Of Us - Joan Osborne became "What If God Smoked Cannabis?"

It's All About The Pentiums It's All About The Benjamins (Puff Daddy)

I thought he was famous for his -I´m fat-, parody on Michael Jackson´s -I´m bad-. And a parody on Madonna´s -Like a virgin-, don´t know what he made if that. Wasn´t it ... -Like a surgeon-...

Hey thanks Satch for that MP3 file. I put a new CD player in the car last weekend which also plays MP3s and I was listening to your compilation on the way down last night. It made a 3 hour drive a lot more bearable Smile

I'm guessing the last two songs are your band ?? I like that version of Plush a lot better than the original Wink

Hey that's cool to hear... there are also 2 other songs of my band in there somewhere. Twisted Evil Funny thing is that people think we only play covers and they never discover our own songs. Laughing
I've even seen people sing along, but it was the first time they heard it. Confused

The last ones were live recordings made straight out of the mixing console so they sound crap. Crying or Very sad

Anyway were in the proces of totally changing our setlist. So if anyone has any good idea of songs to play, please let me know! Wink
