I'm just curious as to what everyone here does for a living. Since I'm asking I'll start with myself.

My title is Group Leader/Returns Analyst and I work for a major book seller. I've been with them for 13 years. I work a normal 40 hr. week - Monday thru Thursday 6 to 4:30 - with Friday thru Sunday being my off days. I also have four weeks of vacation due to my tenure...I believe 20 years of service would get me another week of vacation. The pay could be better, but I have received a 6.5% pay increase this year which is better than the national average I believe. I like my job, but I don't love it. I envy those fortunate few out there who get to do something that they love for a living.

If you read this Alley, what do you do to make ends meet? Is all your income from AB.net? Your probably one of the lucky ones out there who gets to do something they love for a living...one would think.

Alright... here goes. I work for a company called Sunrise Medical. Been with this company for 10 years almost. Started in warehouse, moved up to customer service, customer service co-ordinator, than to marketing. And I am also doing some IT support. It is a very dynamic company, very informal. I like that. But it is damn hard work too.

Take care.

I'm in the Air Force. I've been in for just over 8 years now. I grew up an Army brat, and I had initially planned to join the Army, but my parents both suggested I join the fly boys instead. I love the military and it's lifestyle, and I also love the fact that I'll always be taken care of. No matter what, I'll always have a place to live and a steady income.

I plan to go the full 20 years, but if someone comes along and offers me a job paying millions of dollars to play video games and photograph beautiful women all day.....

I'm self-employed. Im an arborist. Most people aren't familiar with that title,it essentially means"tree doctor". My role in society is urban tree management. I assess and solve people's tree problems, create and impliment tree/environmental management plan's for big messy companies,development/construction sites etc, and process and sell green waste material. I have 3 employees and a heap of expensive, high maintenance,"pain in the arse" machinery. The money is suffice.
Pro's ? I draw physical and spiritual strength from climbing trees,I receive appreciation and respect from 'stoked' clients,I work in a different place just about everyday. There's no demographic in my line of work, trees grow anywhere. I reckon Ive met one of 'everything' doing this work. Ive made some good friends and a lot of good acquaintances. Smile
Con's ? Long days, machinery maintenance and farkin' bookwork! Also climbing hazards like bees, thorny vines, disgruntled koalas and mistletoe all suck. Crying or Very sad
I dig my job. The Pro's far outnumber the Con's . I'll be doing this for a while longer. Very Happy

I almost feel ashamed besides all those hard working people here...
Well, I have been studying law, especially criminal law, at university for three years now. I hope to get finished next summer and become a lawyer afterwards...
At the moment I like what I am doing. Hopefully this will stay the same!

Danielle if you plan to be a lawyer, be an advocate for the poor, the rich have enough money to buy justice, the poor get trampled on every day
