Mid summer. The days have been getting hotter and drier. The water in the tanks is warm and ice melts fast. The grass is dry and the wind hot. The sun sets over a parched town nestled in the mountains, bathing it in later afternoon light that is golden and bright.

Silvador stepped out of his house and into the empty street. The ground was dry and hot. He slowly trudged into town towards the tavern to get some ice, though half of it would be melted by the time her got home.

Iris flipped the sign on her store door to read "CLOSED" and went outside. Closing the door behind her, she found the outside to be something of a relief compared to the stuffy interior of her store that was blazing hot during the day.

Le'Tiahna woke with a start. Something was poking her in the side, something sharp. A rock. She had rolled onto it in her sleep. Looking around, she saw the park was mostly deserted. She had fallen asleep in the shade of a large tree. The shade had moved now and she lay in the warm sunlight.

Pachs was taking a nice cool bath; the heat was getting to him more and more. He had to keep cool so he could focus on his work.

More and more people where coming into the Tavern to get something cold to drink. But with so many people in her it was making it even hotter and she was starting to feel a little light headed so she turned on one of the faucets and put her head under it for about a minute to try and cool off.

Rhoda was modeling in the park and even though she had no clothes on, it was still very hot. Not to mention the artist sitting under a tree, in the shade wasn't helping at all. She just stayed still until she was told otherwise.

Grace had just had her daily run. Even in this heat she ran. She had stopped to get a drink, a good amount of sweat had collected on her shirt as she drank from a glass of water she just bought.

Silvador opened the door to the tavern and nearly gagged as a surge of sweaty heat flooded out at him. Stepping inside, he made his way through the people to the counter to purchase some ice.

Iris walked through BonBon. Her dress allowed her body to breath well so she wasn't as hot as most. Although, she still could taste the dryness and the heat in the air she breathed. Casually, she made her way through BonBon to her home. Most of the courtesans were concealed in the shadows of buildings or not there at all. Few of BonBon's citizens were out in this heat. At least the night promised some relief.

Le'Tiahna feebly tossed the rock away and stood up. She wore nothing. Stretching, the ample busted mouse yawned and started to make her way home. On her way, she stopped for a moment to admire a naked lioness standing still near a nearby tree.

Being reptilian Medel usually enjoyed the heat but today was to hot even for her she had decided to not open her shop today and sat in her hot studio with her tail sitting in a bucket of water as she scratched out her most recent statue

"it's horribly hot today glad i run my own business"

She mumbled to her self

Star was sitting outside on her rock her feet in the stream waiting for Shane to return with the large blocks of ice

"i hope they don't melt all the way by the time he gets back"

she splashed her face with the water as she tried to keep cool her fur dried quickly in this heat

Ryan had just bought his new home and he was desperately trying to stay cool inside but was failing miserably even with all the windows open and a fan in his hand he couldn't stay cool

he got up and left the house not bothering to lock it the only things in there was a bed and his clothes right now

Pachs got a vary good idea; he had been working on that refrigeration unit; he could use that to cool off his house. He got out of the bath and dried off and only got on his pants and made his way upstairs and turned on the unit and he sat down in front of it with his eyes closed and enjoyed the cold air blowing onto him.

Johanna finished and turned off the water and ran her fingers through her hair and went back to work. People where asking for more and more cold drinks but they where running out.

The artist had finished and had left. Rhoda sat down under the tree and fanned herself. The day was really hot so she just left her clothes off.

Grace had stopped jogging and sat down on a bech to rest. She had gotten some water in a paper cup and drank it even though it wasn't that cold.

Silvador stood at the counter and ordered some ice. As he waited patiently, he glanced around at the people in the tavern.

Iris finally made it home. Going inside, she found it hard to breath as the air was thick and hot.

"I knew I forgot something," the cheetah muttered to herself as she opened some of the windows. In her bedroom, she peeled off her dress and even took off her ribbon and pendant before laying naked on the bed to try and cool down.

Le'Tiahna decided to say hi to the lioness. It was too hot for anything sexual, but she saw no harm in at least saying "Hi".

"Hi," the mouse said as she walked over to the naked lioness.

As the afternoon dragged on, the temperature finally began to drop. Though it only dropped a couple of degrees in the late hours of the afternoon, those couple of degrees were noticed. It was still very hot though.

The hot air in the town began to move. Warm winds blew through the barren streets. Stale air filled the lungs of all who poked their heads outside and am eerie stillness settled over the town.

The chemicals ran out for cooling unit and in a few minutes it was just as hot before. Pachs let out a groan because he knew he didn't have any more and the place he got them from was out because he bought the last of them yesterday.

Star felt the air cool just a little her fur didn't dry as fast she got up and went back inside carrying her dress in her hands as she started on a light dinner nothing that requires the stove to be lit a salad and a sandwich for her and shane

Medel finishes her statue and stood up picking up her bucket of water she went out side and leaving the doors to her places open setting the bucket of water on the steps she sat down and put her tail back in the bucket as the breeze blew through

"oh thats nice"

Ryan walked through the streets he felt the air flow and headed towards the park watching the sky look darker as the day descends he saw people in the park talking under the trees and bushes finding a spot he sat down fluttering his wings

Shane returned home with the ice Star had sent him out to get. It was already half melted.

"I'm back," he called to Star when he got inside.

Pachs decided to do the next best thing he went outside. He immediately started to sweat as he made his way down the street; he was going to his favorite part of the town a spot he knew of by the lake; he could go swimming there in privacy.

Johanna kept going back from working to putting her head under the faucet but none of it worked. She was starting to get light headed and he vision was becoming blurred. She shook it off for a little while trying to get through the days so she could go home to Isaac and Rhoda to take a nice cold bath. He willpower was vary good and just the thought of the cold bath was enough to keep her going for now.

Silvador put his ice in the ice box. Next, he poured a drink and chipped some ice off and put it in his drink to keep it cool.

Shane did as he was told then sat down to eat.

Iris lay on her bed, her arms and legs spread out. She breathed deeply, her eyes closed.

"Cool off," Le'Tiahna echoed. "Not something that's easily done these days." Le'Tiahna glanced towards the mountains where the sun was setting. "Even setting, the sun is as bright as ever." The mouse looked a little closer as the light began to fade. "Wait, that's not... Oh no."

As the sun set behind the mountains and darkness spread over the town. A brightness remained on the top of the mountains. A brightness that was growing, spreading, moving down the mountain. Fire.

Pachs suddenly stopped and smelled something on the light breeze that did not seem to help with the heat and he intently knew what it was. He began to run in the direction of the fire.

Pachs: FIRE....EVERYONE....THERE'S A FIRE.......

Johanna was making her way home after work and saw that it was still brighter then it should be. She was to tired to care and began to make her way home imagining to cold bath she would take. Maybe being joined by Issac or Rhoda....Or maybe both..

Rhoda stood up and stared at the fire coming over he hills. She was amazed by fire, always had been. She just stood starring at the oncoming blaze.

Grace was about to fall asleep when she looked over and her eyes widened. She shot up from the bench and watched in horror as the fires got closer.

The scent of fire was faint, but distinct. Up in the mountains, the mid-summer wild fire gradually spread out. For now, it moved slowly and was still small. But that would change.

Silvador sat, drinking his drink, and sniffed the warm breeze that blew in through his window. Immediately he sat up. Putting his drink down, he looked out his window and saw the fire on top of the mountain.

"Well that can't be good," the panther said to himself.

Le'Tiahna turned to Rhoda and was shocked to see her captivated by the sight.

"Hello?" the mouse said, trying to get the lioness' attention. "Are you alright?" Le'Tiahna shook her by the shoulder gently.

Iris sat up. She knew that smell and it immediately brought back sour memories of her store burning. A sudden grip of fear took her heart as she got off the bed and charged through the house. Forgetting she was naked, the mighty cheetah dash outside and into town, one thought on her mind, my shop is burning again!

There was one in BonBon to whom the scent was stronger. He sniffed the air and made his way outside. Though he was blind, he knew where it came from.

"Star!" Shane called.

The smell of fire sneaked into Thomas' concealed tent. Waking with a start, the rat rushed outside into the shadowy bushland that surrounded BonBon. Seeing that he was in no immediate danger, the rat sniffed the air to see where the scent was coming from, then sought out higher ground to determine how far away it was.

* the hammering of hammer against anvil beat out a steady rythym to those that stood near Marco's shop. The heat outside was almost unnoticed by him as he had spent nearly his whole life in the heat of a blacksmith's forge, though the air did seem a bit more...dry..then usual. Setting down his hammer and leaving his latest piece of work for a new commision to quench and set...he walked outside and stretched his massive arms...and that is when he heard the yells from his friend Pach...His eyes getting wider and alarm srpeading through his nerves..*

As he rolled out of bed, Corran realized that the usual sounds of the city outside his apartment were non-existent. Walking sleepily to his window he looked outside to see people moving about in confusion. They all seem to be looking up at the mountain. The large plume of smoke and flames come like a slap to the face. The dalmation threw on the nearest set of trousers and boots and ran for the fire station.

"oh no ....there's a fire on the mountain side.....its about medium sized"

Pachs was running down the road yelling that there was a fire he was making his way to the edge of town wanting to know how close the fire was.

Johanna was walking home where she noticed all the people looking off in one direction of the town she turned and her mouth dropped open. She saw the fire there and she immediately ran to Rhoda's house wanting to make sure they would be safe.

He had seen how quickly and how devastating a fire could destroy a town such as this and he had no intention of sitting idly by while his new home burned..*

Silvador turned from his window and glanced around his room, thinking what to do. "I should see if there's something I can do to help," the panther said to himself. Picking up Istor and setting the blade to his belt, he left his home and made his way towards the local fire station.

Le'Tiahna watched, shocked, as the lioness began to walk towards the blaze on the mountain side. Getting in front of her, she shouted at her to try and get her attention. "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? WE HAVE TO GO! IT WON'T BE SAFE HERE!"

Iris ploughed through the streets, still naked. When she reached her store and saw it was untouched, she heaved a heavy sigh of relief then began to look around. When she finally saw the blaze up on the mountain side, her expression turned to a serious and sour one. "Not this time, you don't," she said sternly. Getting the key from its hiding place, Iris unlocked her store and went inside.

"Go inside and start packing things," Shane said to Star, "but only valuables. If it comes to it, we may have to abandon the house and it'll be better if we are prepared so that we can leave quickly."

Thomas found a small clearing where he could see the fire. Looking up at it, he was captivated for a moment. Then, turning away, he ran back to his camp to start packing it up. He only had a short time.

Arriving at the firehouse, Corran was relieved to see that volunteers had already begun to gather. "Get the pump ready to move and don't forget the shovels." he called to the helpful locals. "If we work fast enough we may be able to direct the blaze away from the town." Reaching out he grabbed one of the younger men by the sleeve, "Spread the word across town for more help. We need all the people we can gather."

Star turned around and went into the house and grabbed out the suitcases from under the bed she folded up her really fancy dresses and a few outfits of shane's and put them in she then put her jewelry box into the case looking around she didn't see anything else of value she went to the kitchen and packed up some food in her grocery bags which she had made with canvas sheets then she went back out side

"i packed up all our clothes and food stuff and my jewelry...was there anything else i should get?"

Medel walked out through the crowd back to her place she went inside and packed up her most important things jewelery and a few paintings she had that were special to her

she went out and headed away from the mountain side that the fire was growing on the side of
