I have mentioned previously that I play a game called RuneScape. I have played it for close to 2 years now and I have decided that I want to max a skill. The skill I chose is runecrafting, a skill that revolves around taking blank runes to a specialized altar and converting them into runes of use for magic. This skill can be highly profitable and is one of the rarest capes of accomplishment (Meaning that there are fewer people maxed in this skill than many of the others). So what makes it so rare? It is a slow process that is HIGHLY repetitive and few people have the patience for it.

There are 13 types of runes that can be crafted at specific altars. Of these 13, I can currently make 12 of them. The last one is available at level 77, but I won't be making any of those ones at the specific altar. The maximum inventory space available is 28 slots and the blank runes take up one slot each. This is obviously very limiting, so there are some helpful aids used to allow for more essence(blank runes) to be carried, pouches. Each pouch takes up one inventory slot, but can hold a certain number of essence. A small pouch holds 3, a medium pouch holds 6, a large holds 9 and a giant pouch holds 12. Unfortunately, only 1 type of each pouch is allowed and they start to degrade over time, but can be easily repaired. In addition, with a high enough level in the Summoning skill, you can summon an abyssal familiar that can hold an additional 7 essence.

At this point, I can use 3 of the 4 pouches as well as a summoned familiar. At 75, I will unlock the last pouch size and will head to a different style for the remainder of my levels. ZMI, which is the name of a very different altar. Rather than make 1 specific type of rune, it can make all 14 (that's right, even 1 type that doesn't have a specific altar). Since it makes a random array of runes, there's a balancing factor to make it worth while: double the experience for any rune crafted from it!. The higher the level in runecrafting, the more higher-level runes get crafted. So, once I start getting higher and higher, I'll actually be getting more and more xp.

One last thing: xp/hour. My current method probably yields between 10-15k experience an hour, the ZMI method will be yielding an average of about 25-30k xp/hour when I start at 75 and increase to 50k or more/hour when I get into the 90s. The only reason I'm not using it now is without the last pouch, it becomes less cost-effective (pay 60 runes of the same type for bank usage between runs).

ha I remember that game. I think I tried to max out something like crafting or smelting, but it got to the point where it was just too repetitive. I got close though!
