Having decided on Samuel being separated from the Order of Shadows early on, I had never fully developed an in-depth infrastructure as to what made up the Order. Freely typing my thoughts for an opening for the RP, i ended up developing more structure than I had ever had before, and something that made sense.
The Order of Shadows is actually but a part of a greater organization. As of the moment, I am working under the name of the Dark Order. At the heart of the Dark Order are the elite of the elite, the Unseen. Nothing is known about them, as there is no direct interaction with them. They alternate locations and use a very sophisticated code to relay new pickup points. They are often referred to as the Fates, as they decide which contracts are accepted and sent out to be carried out.
Beneath the Unseen are the Heralds. Each herald acts as a head of order and has a unique name and specialty for their subordinates. The Mask is the herald for the Order of Shadows, one of the three primary assassin orders. Aside from the assassin are the support and reconnaissance orders, such as the Order of the Eye, a group of spies, devoted to filling out detailed information to be added to contracts that require more detail before being assigned. There is even the Golden Order, devoted to handling the financial aspects of all of the Orders workings. Not much is known about the Golden Order, but it has been said that they exist within vaults, so as to avoid temptation of theft.
The assassin orders are the Order of Shadows, specialized in stealth; The Order of Blades, brute force and intimidation;and the Order of Blood, sadists that carve their way to target in blood, leaving no witnesses, ever.
Each order has their own unique infrastructure, but primarily everyone beneath the Herald has the potential to be assigned a contract. A few of the more elite members of an order are part of a special collection known as Sentinels. A Sentinel is an enforcer, sent out after rogue members, or other members of the Dark Order that need to be eliminated.
Once the Order of Shadows came under attack, the entire Dark Order went underground. Continued operation ran the risk of endangering further branches. Even once the Dark Order returns to life, all those alive from the Order of Shadows will be forgotten, for fear of reestablishing a dangerous link. |

I have to admit that it was quite difficult for me to visualize the structure at first , but once I did I was amazed by the brilliance of it all.
I don't want to sound like a nerd, but the Order of the Shadows reminds me of "The Dark Brotherhood" from the video game "Oblivion"
I assume you have already assigned each of your "mercenaries" ( AKA: everyone who decided to join this thread) a rank and title within the Order? _________________ Dallas"Wildcat"Swagger--->Fursona |

Essentially, no. The only real titles assigned to anyone are the codenames, as everyone in the RP will be sort of at the bottom. I may make Henk part of the Blades and a fellow Sentinel, as it would help isolate him from direct interaction with Samuel, yet still allow him an excuse to end up in Bon Bon. I also wanted to get feedback from our dear brothers and sister before going into further depths.
Yeah, also should mention I just installed Oblivion on my PC and just so happen to be part of the Dark Brotherhood <.< >.> |

He's still around? Haven't seen much of him lately, but then again I don't follow too many rps anymore. |

That's really up to Henk more than it is to me. Now that I think about it, Henk might make a better Blood, especially if Red Vision is involved. Then I think I'd have Koga be a Blade.
As far as anyone wishing to use their character outside of this RP, I will likely have several members come up for termination, where Samuel carries it out, to a point. He'll fake a few members' deaths towards the end of things. With Koga and Henk, if I have them in separate orders, they might do things differently and not have a whole lot of exposure to the Shadow members. This would provide a reasonable excuse for Samuel to not be familiar with them until Bon Bon.
As much as this RP has been providing challenges, I'm pretty glad for it, because without other members bringing up issues needing resolved to execute, I may have never ended up with the expanded infrastructure.
As far as lowest tier, though, there are servants on the payroll of the Dark Order. It's part of the DO's policy to treat all servants with respect, if you don't, well most of us will know that a lot of information instrumental to a target's downfall can come from the hired hands. |
