Hehe, sorry guys but if you think it's a brothel article, you're wrong, a little gag of mine! (and if you're not discouraged yet, then read on ) It was actually an article in a magazine I got the other day at the book shop while finding a book on drawing human figures and it was a combat aircraft magazine with an article on the US Navy's pilot training program where they go out and learn to actually land on aircraft carriers.
It brought back old memories for me, when I was in school I was offered a pilot commission from every branch by the military but sadly I refused and found out later I would have been rejected anway. But it made me remember some of my good friends who had their own jets and how I was almost a "civilian hooker" pilot. A good friend of mine who passed away five years ago this year had his own 1955 Hawker Hunter jet and it was a navy airplane, how it ever landed on a carrier was beyond me!
I almost became a "civil" hooker in that a friend of mine from Munich, Germany, had his own Navy trainer T-28 Trojan (no, not named after those things!) that years ago he had bought retired from the Navy out of Pensacola, Fla. where for nearly 40 years she taught other grads how to "hook" the wire. He was training me to fly it for him since he had conditions that prevented him from flying himself now. He's sadly got only a couple months or so left so we stopped training and now she sits by herself just collecting dust, and I used to spend five days a week with her.
Me "Trojan Man" and her making some noise. I miss my blue beauty!
I spent five days a week with her, my hands all over her, up in every hole, front and back, up and down and when she was running it was like she was singing to me. The power of her in my hands when I held the controls, the roar of 1500hp out the exhaust pipes, the purring of her engine and everyone stopped and starred when we taxied all over the field and I even got to run her down the runway for some high speed work after I got her running again from a long storage period. Just 5 more knots and we would have been airborne and flying together. Just brings back such old memories of me and my friend, the flights we did, the places we flew to, the stories he'd tell me of his life, stories you never could believe even if you were there and the fun we had. _________________ The Story of Sky B.
