I wonder if I'm the only one who feels left in the dust. It seems the same 2-3 people are in an rp that ends up with 5 pages in 2 days. That scares me, because I've been wanting to start a new rp, but given my history of RPs and new people... well it makes me hesitant. Add in the possibility of having 3 pages between my first and second posts, and it seems like a nightmare.

I know that it isn't the case for every rp, but some of the newer ones go by pretty quick and even though I'm here usually at least once every day, it can still get hard to follow. I know I was guilty of it myself with my first rp, but then Cassandre came along and..."hi-jacked" comes to mind. Then I try to start again, new member and Henk get nearly 2 pages in between my posts and Cassandre all but disappeared. So, yeah, I'm not too thrilled with my record with RPs.

I'm just wondering how many would have the patience, or the discipline to be mindful of the less frequent visitors of the forum. My apologies if I come off a bit pushy, but between end-of-term assignments of massive proportion and a delusional stepfather-in-law, I'm a little stressed and coming to a place I used to find relaxing and find pages of new posts...I'm sure you can get the idea.

I'm not much of a roleplayer. I have actually only participated in a single RP here, and that one was different from most other ones by having a posting order. While I at times found it too limiting to have to wait a week or more between posts, I still think it's more to my liking that the RPs where peopel are free to post as they want, and the things that you mention happens. I wouldn't want to participate in a RP where the majority of posts where by a couple of people going back and forth.

Perhaps you could come up with a RP with some form of posting order? That might be a solution for you.

i understand frankly i do see how it all gets a little ridiculous at times, being a culprit of it myself, but i imagine that as long as you set out the rules and make it clear that you want people to be patient and adhere to a turn based rp system then they would happily oblige

when compared to people who frequent to forum (or like me have little else to do but sit on the forum all day) it is a bit of task to keep up for those who get on maybe once or twice at all. as for the RP scene, yeah, there does seem to be a focus on a same people. the first few pages fill quick but then they also seem to lose moment significantly after about the 3rd or 4th page (just going on what i've seen in the short time i've been here)

i've considered starting my own RP but have steered away from it for these two reasons. i tend to add a bit of a chaotic element to RPs, usually adding background or throwing in unexpected turns. and with only a small number of people and the likely hood of it dieing after the first couple of pages, i see no real point to starting, but that's just me.

I’m at the heart of the problem. I’m running the forums like some schizophrenic maniac retard, rushing through RPs like it was a race.
It’s not that I have nothing better to do than browse the forums; it’s just really easy for me to monitor the forums. I have a laptop and I never let it out of my sight( my last computer was stolen while I was in class, I’m a little paranoid now). Most of the classes I take allow laptops during class, I just open up a browser and place it in the corner nad when ever i get tired of listening to llecturesi just hit refresh and look if anyone is on .And even at work; it’s not that difficult check for updates. (I wrote this entire apology during class, just to give everyone some idea how easy it is for me to respond)

I assumed that’s how RPs worked, this is the first time I’ve actually taken RP seriously and my behavior is a result of that lack of experience. When I joined PBB, I started reading some of RPs, everyone sounded like they were frustrated with people joining RPs and then not participate on a regular basis. I didn’t want to be the person who pissed people off so I tried my best to respond as soon as soon as possible when someone opens a dialog with my character, I wasn’t trying to discourage people from joining I was just trying to be polite and engaged.

I guess to only way for me to rectify the situation is for me to stop posting. I didn’t mean to cause all this trouble. But the more I more I think about all this, the more I realize that I’m the one discouraging people from participating in forums.

I Apologize for for my inappropriate behavior and my disregard for the rules of everyone’s RP threads that I participated in. I never meant to be such a bastard, I hope everyone will forgive in time; but I understand if you don’t.

personally i think it's dead enough around here already without having to wait for a week for someone to post in an RP thread for it to be able to move forward. just my opinion though. we need more regulars around here.

It's really a matter of preferences and there being room for everyone, I think. Just as with any other threads, the RPs can be orderly or chaotic. People should just be mindful of what kind of RP they enter, and stay clear of the ones they don't think their posting style matches.

Just set some rules for the RP if that's how you prefer it.

I'm with Symphony on this one, rp's can go however people want them to. If you want it to be orderly and with a set order of posts, then set rules and most people, if not all will be mindful and follow them.
