I've been working on an avatar since I joined, but there's something I need to ask and figure out first, before I spend more time on it.

Since I haven't seen a female horse in Bon Bon, that's what I've decided that my avatar should hopefully be. But I have a problem with how horses are usually draw in furry artwork. I've been thinking about a lot about how I'd like her to look, and what I'd like her to wear, but the image I have in my head gets ruined when I picture her with hooves. It just doesn't fit, since I very much like how stylish and fashionable Vanessa's characters are, with dresses, heels, stockings and such.
I don't really mind it with male characters. They are usually portrayed with hooves, and sometimes even shins that look more animal than human. But it fits them much better, like with Drake. His legs looks masculine.

So I was wondering if this is something that can be worked out, because otherwise I think I'd rather forget about my creation and start over on something different, though I don't really want to do that either.

But is it possible to either have a horse with legs and feet like humans and most other characters in Bon Bon, or to simply have her feet be covered in heels or boots so her feet are never seen "naked"?

Oh man... Horse ladies are so freaking sexy... Aliright! I dare to humiliate myself! I have a sexual attraction to My Little Ponies! It's just the eyes, build and the sheer level of innocence they have to them. Now that I've got that out, I'm certain our lovely feline shall be MORE than able to help you out.

I dunno, every time I've seen a horse-girl character (or zebra, or pony, or other equine species), I've always thought they looked better with hooves on their feet... Some artists are able to pull it off while still making the characters look feminine, often giving the hooves a "dainty" appearance. I know, of course, that this isn't always the case, and in a large number of (lazy) artists seem to prefer to keep the feet "mysteriously out of frame".

Boots could possibly be an option, as I'm sure in a world populated by furries it probably wouldn't be a problem to find a shoe-maker who builds stylish footwear for ungulate species... after all, just think of all the tailors, seamstresses, and dressmakers who have to accomodate tails, wings, spines, etc. for their varying customers. Not to mention the milliners and hatters who have to fashion headwear around various sizes of ears, horns, antlers, and other cranial appendages...

Sure, Symphony, I can also do a mare with legs if you prefer. Among other things I collect My Little Ponies and I've always been tempted to draw a sweet, sexy mare in anthropomorphic version^^; with or without legs, what's important is that she has a lovely colored mane and sparkling eyes! big grin

Thank you, Vanessa. I'm glad that it's not a problem that I'd rather not have my character have hooves. It's just a personal preference, and usually it hasn't been much of a problem, but this is the first time I've been able to ask an artist to draw a character for me, and I've really spent time on my character and how I'd like her to be.

I actually don't always like the mares that I've seen people draw. Often they become too masculine or too relistic looking for my taste. But Vanessa's style is perfect for what I have in mind.

I usually associate mares with elegance and maturity, which I like very much, but this talk of My Little Ponies makes me think that a sweet innocent pony might not be such a bad idea either.

Actually, one idea might be to have the feet drawn like human feet(plantigrade) but have the toenails very dark and long(so they resemble a partial hoof).I have seen a few artists pull this one off and it makes the foot look like the lady is wearing a stocking with a shaded toe.Just a thoght. Smile

Leon would certainly be atracted to that. He's the kind of battle hardened guy who just opens up to someone sweet cause they touch his softer spots.
