But the way breasts are drawn semi-disturb me. I know, it's stupid, but they look like implants since they're always and I mean ALWAYS perky and in perfect circles. It's like gravity doesn't even exists back in 1895! Here is a drawing on www.deviantart.com that will explain:

I'm not trying to criticizes you Vanessa, I'm just wondering if anyone else is/has thought of this. Otherwise, flame me as you please dry

Fortunately we have Corran on hand to extinguish any excessive fires. The thought had crossed my mind, for all of about 37 seconds. However, and forgive my stereotypical masculine logic ladies, if you're going to have a fictional setting then why not give all the women perfect breasts? Ms. Santato has removed certain "realistic" and "undesirable" elements from Bon Bon (war, disease, murder, imperfect breasts, mimes, etc.) in order to present a more idyllic setting. As far as I am concerned, a leisurely stroll down the streets of Bon Bon on a fine Spring day would bring just as much enjoyment to the eye as a trip to the Louvre. Also, the clothing worn by the female cast serve to accentuate, or "push-up", their breasts in most cases.

And a little humor to lighten the situation:

I'm going to have to agree with Xebulon on this one. I mean after all this.... Wait a second did he say mimes?

What have you got against mimes, Xebulon? They make great target practice! Laughing Joking aside, I concur with you. If you are going to create fictional, idyllic setting, why then would you also include things that could potentially subtract from that setting? (I say "potentially" because there is such a thing as individual taste)

I like perfect tits. And shooting mimes is not fair, they don't move, it's like shooting cans, but easier! Cans are smaller, thus harder to hit! Twisted Evil
Also, there is no old or ugly people (if I get to appear I think I'll be the ugliest guy in town xD ), so why do we need imperfect tits? I like de idillic setting, and the venusian furry bodies the female characters have :3

Wohoo another LICD reader Very Happy

Anyway, as PBB is fictional I'm fine with the way they are drawn Smile (and I don't think a furry version of Kate Moss would fit into BonBon Wink )

Not to be another detractor to Vanessa's artwork (and really, I absolutely love the way Vanessa draws... seriously!!), but I do have to agree with miyori a bit on this one... I mean, who's to say what the perfect breast is? Different cultures have always, through out time, differred in their opinions on what constituted "perfection" in the human form.

In that sense, I think we're missing the big point here. It's not a question of one artist's style, but of the culture at large and what consitutes "perfection". Were we actually using real world logic (and body proportions), the women of the 1890's would look positively flabby to us who live in the age of nip and tuck and silicone implants and liposuction. One look at adult-oriented comics in general will show you how much large, spherical breasts, thin waists, and long legs have become the desired symbols of feminine sexuality in our society at large. Hell, you only have to look at mainstream, live-action porn to see that...

I'd personally love to see more variety in the shapes and sizes of characters in Bon Bon, but that's completely up to how comfortable Vanessa is with depicting different body types, and how much we, the audience, encourage her to head in that direction...

Then again, this is a webcomic centered around cartoon anthropomorphic animals having risk-free unprotected sex in a make-believe town. Realism, I think, is not necessarily the point of the comic...

"Perfection" is a state of mind, a goal, but is not "real" because it is relative to the individual striving for it. This is only one reason why "perfection" is "impossible."

This post made me smile and think.
If we think about it the anthropomorphized animals shouldn't even have two breasts, but rather six... According to the law of fantasy of comics everything is allowed; so the furry girls only developed the first two breast, it's an aesthetic matter of idealization. In the first issue, in the scene where mary masturbates in her room, her breasts are a bit lower. As time passed the use of girdles, that lift up the breasts, spoiled me a bit, so I started drawing breasts always higher, even without clothes. But if you check the first page of issue #6 you'll notice that Mary, three years earlier, didn't have such an abundant breast.
I've decided. To make everyone happy I'll do breasts of different sizes for the future characters and I'll draw a different gravity of breasts with and without girdle, higher and lower but always large for the main characters, as I started doing. Do you like it as a solution? Smile

Boobs... ::shoots a random mime with a RPG, blowing it (and the city block) to bits:: In all honesty, I feel if the girls of Bon Bon don't need suport because their breasts are naturaly alined, then I feel glad they have a lack of sore backs. As for multi breasts, at least for my sake, can we avoid such a topic? It freaks me out REAL BAD for a girl to have more than one pair. Anywho, I think the way the girls are drawn is fine. They have the right curves, the right figures... And in Chessy's case, the right sex drive that won't have a guy be fucked to death.

<.< >.> Hey look, it's Henry the 5th! ::blows up another four mimes while nobody is looking:: MWA HA HA HA HA!!!

I think your solution is a good one, Vanessa, but as myori said "It's up to you, Vanessa." Personally, I see no reason why you should change anything. You've done an incredible job in creating an absorbing, fun and thuroughly enjoyable comic. I don't think anyone is complaining here, merely remarking and speaking their minds. I see no reason to change anything, but you are the artist and creator here and it is entirely up to you. Whatever your decision, I'm sure it will be a sound and overall pleasing one. Leaving such a decision in your capable hands is and could never be a wrong choice, in my opinion.

(and Shadow, there is a line between target practice and overkill, and blowing up a city block along with your target qualifies as overkill.)

Beware, Shadow... the mimes are getting mad, and they sent the dreaded Mime Ninjas after you!

How do you recognize them? Easy: While regular ninja are like regular people, only silent, sneaky and shadowy, Mime Ninjas are unbelievably noisy, gaudy and noticeable! You might also know them as...

CLOWNS! Very Happy

That said, the Mime Elders asked me to read this declaration.
*lifts a white sheet of paper and starts opening and closing his bill silently*
Well, I guess that clarifies their position on the matter. Very Happy

Perhaps the message of my original post was overly verbose and obscured by my dislike of mimes so allow me to simplify. *ahem*

That's really all I was trying to say. I hope this clarifies matters.
