Practically everywhere I go online, there are folks posting horrible, unkind things about furre-enthusiasts, despite the fact at heart we're only different in that we prefer a more... exotic art-style. Like it says in my signature, people worry too damned much about the little things and forget about what's really important about people.

I mean, we're relentlessly poked fun at us for our hobbies... why? It's not like they don't like things that most people don't. Maybe they're jealous of us?

Naah. Maybe they're just assholes.

Well, Verox... let me answer by saying three terms:
Anime Otakus.
RPGers.
Videogame players.
(I could also add Trekkies and many other kinds...)
They had their turn at being considered loons, corruptors and flunkies of evil. Now it's ours, simple as that.
Guess we just have to wait for a new cathegory to "step up in the limelight"; in the meantime, take it as a good exercise in not giving a hoot.

It's hard to talk seriously about hatred towards furryfans without sounding either like an example of why furries deserve to be attacked or simply oversensitive. Even so, I have to say that I think it has been a little worse than what it was for other supposedly geeky groups.

Most of the fun poked at those other groups, while maybe not always so good natured, was nonethless just general mocking. The way furries are regarded on the other hand....

The other day, I heard someone say that furry artists should have their hands cut off so they can't draw anymore and then say that he was completely serious. It was not the first such comment I had heard about furry artists or fans. I once read on a web site that furry cartoonists are obviously pedophiles because they draw cute cartoons that are also sometimes sexy. Cuteness supposedly equals kiddie so.... And naturally, claims of [word censored] are not hard to find. I don't just hear that furries are annoying geeks. I hear that furries deserve to die. That's a little different from the mocking that the trekkies and other groups have gotten and still do get. The contrast with what furries are accused of with the true harmlessness of a fandom that has great enthusiam for creatures that, afterall, don't exist to begin with is amazing. I mean, it's not like fanboys are going to have the chance to abuse or [word censored] real vixen girls or anything. They just don't exist.

I'm not saying that there is much that can or even should be done about it though. Hate mongering is it's own reward and it's noticable that many of those who claim to be among the fandom's harshest critics nonetheless seem to have a rather suspisciously keen interest in and knowledge of the genre themselves. Some of the most enthusiastic critics among them seemingly know more about the fandom and own more of its art, if only in Jpeg form, than most open fans do. Anyway, whether it's hate from the outside or a bit of self hate among furry fans, it's all just part of the modern big bad internet. I guess we just have to take it in stride and remember that the kind of folks who engage in such judgements and angry rants are not generally the kind of people who have the guts to do anything about them, or anything else for that matter.

... I took some time to reply to this...sorry Smile

I must admit that sometimes I surf the PoE and also Crash Yiff Destroy to keep my vision of furryness complete, from many angles and points of view.

I think that the hate against furries borns often from he fact that the furry genre involves sex.
So this is a delicate matter, you see.
An example, why there are so many ppl hating homosexuals and babbling they deserve to die instead of just mocking them too, as they do with trekkers?

Probably because of the morality that puts dirty labels on sex itself and when sex for someone is not intended "the holy ritual only to be done for giving life to children" ... the blame is on him/her. And also the Hate.
So if the human kind has judged and labelled sex, just think about what it happens when sex is also intended in a different way...
*shrugs*
My hands are still here btw, so I suppose I won. >Razz

I feel terrible for the furries out there. Humanity is truly evil, and yet, It seems that all the people who want to destroy the world arent all that bad after all. I also look down upon the fools who hate furries. As a Nero Angelo (Dark or Black Angel, I forget.) I wish that I could pass my Judgement upon them. In this weak body, However, I can do nothing. A toast To the future, its fruits and its failures, The re-establishment Between Babylon, Atlantis, And Almaesia, The three great Ancient Empires. Bless the furries, and Damn the haters to hell.

I have a personal theory on that matter. People usually hate things that makes them feel ashamed. And they loathe the idé that any group of people possess the power to make them feel that way. Most likley they have a little furry inside their head that makes them create that draenai female toon after installing the nude patch to world of warcraft. And most likley they cant believe they got aroused at the love sceene in Lion King. And they really , really feel the need to leave hateful remarks in forums to ease their shame from browsing the furry art with one hand down their pants.
As with most bullies.... They hate people who openly do what they dare not. Weither its regarded bad by religion, family or other it matters not. So there is reallly no need to hate them... Because they allready hate themselves.

the thing is.. everyone on the internet has their weird porn fetishes that they are too ashamed to talk about.. i mean if you have seen some of the most searched things in google.. theres some.. seriously crazy things in there lol

its just.. furry enthusiasts as you like to call em... are very open about it..

its just natural for people to insult people for being open with themselves.. its all out of insecurity issues.. i had friends that used to make fun of me watching hentai.. then i was perusing his computer one day AND OH GUESS WHAT I FOUND [word censored] LULZ

i didnt say anything though... because he has the right to fap to whatever he feels like.. what is him calling me weird for looking at cartoon porn going to accomplish? i mean.. what are any of those forum trolls going to accomplish by saying they wish you die and they hope your hands get chopped off.. not a god damn thing.. unless you let it get to you...

i will say one thing though.. gay buttsex grosses me out.. be it real gay buttsex... or furry gay buttsex.. either way its grooosss lol

but if you wish thats your perogative Smile just dont tell me about it xD

As Serena says before

Furry art many times involves sex, thats not the real problem.

To the other people Furries looks more like animals than a human, so that means more [word censored] than regular sex.

Thats all the hate come from. Mostly ignorance and fear, like all the hate.

Well see you

Clue:
The censored word begins with Best and ends with iality :p

Furry hate is very common in the internet world. When you draw a wolf with human features "it should go yiff itself".
While Disney, and their pants-wearing animals, are generally loved and respected. How does that work?

People these days are such christian weenies (no offence to all christians who are registerd to this site) and are afraid of everything what is not soccer or the bible (like mlp:FIM, crackpairing and eveything science)
