Disappointed with the content for "beginning members" for sure... Still, I'm interested in seeing the rest, considering I know there are some hot photos out there and it'd be nice to see them all properly, from the AB website.

However,

With Loyal Membership, what do I get, numbers-wise? I know I get access to the archives... etc... But how much content is this in number of galleries/photos, roughly?

There're quite a few sets that rotate in the loyal members section. You only get like 6-7 at a time, but there's got to be over 50 sets that rotate. You also get to see the Alley Cat comic which is pretty cool.

Actually, you get the normal Regular Members archive which is 12 months - 3 sets each. Total of 36 sets....

Then you get the Loyal Members. (which is NOT 6 or 7). It shows only 6 or 7 in the main page area....

But once you click on them.... It gives you 12 more months beyond that...
which each has 3 sets each again. Total of 36 sets.

So basically when you join you AND stay as a loyal member you get 52 sets of images....

The archive rotates weekly. (there's over 5 years of content it rotates from.)



I think people don't realize that the Roman Numerals at the top of the image gallery are clickable.

I, II, III, IV, IV, V, etc....

Click on those...

As a loyal member paying $10 a month to get new content each week, and being able to chat with Alley... thats a good deal.


I don't understand how there are people who subscribe to sites complain about content, when there are people who have been paying for membership for over 3 years to a site.

And along comes a new guy and cry about I want it all for $25 so I can suck up the content and quit..... The whole idea of Loyal Members is to prevent people from doing so....

In theory, the ideal membership/subscription system would just feed new members content from point A, and only update content to him regularly as he maintains his subscriptions. Each member would be seeing different updates. And if you want to see more updates, you pay extra to accelerate the update rate.


Like a comic book. Issue#1, Issue#2, etc... Or a magazine.
You pay for magazines per issue, and you get a fixed amount of content with that issue.

The whole internet thing starts spoiling people to feel like I want to get the entire archives for $25.

God. I bet 90% of the members probably didn't even know the Roman Numerals were clickable. HaHa!

I should have told Rick that when I first saw that design.

Maybe he should have kept my "Gallery1 - Gallery2 - Gallery3 - etc" clickable text links.


Alley's gallery is still one of my favorite gallery designs.... except for the gallery options I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, etc thingy.

If you click on it, the red marker moves along the top too....

Maybe there should be a text at the bottom of it saying click on the above numbers to jump to different galleries.

I'm very surprised! I knew that behind the roman numeral, months of archive were there. I think Rick said it here on the board. But, to tell the truth, my mouth euh my mouse touches everything on Alley's page! But it's true it could be quite confused for new loyal member. And you're right to mention it. Art and practicability are sometimes not easy to marry!
