Hi Martina,

pop quiz. Little history. Do you still remember what Queens day / Koninginnedag was like when you were a kid? Or were you already living in the UK when you were a kid? Maybe visit some family around that time.... it is 30rd of April. And we are really pissed off in Holland, because Queens day is a national holiday, and it is now a Saturday, and we don't getr a day off from work!! Twisted Evil

Hugs...

Oh you never was in Holland on Koninginnedag!? Shocked
Well you need to come over next year then! Wink

Koninginnedag is always on april 3rd. It actually was the birthday of our former queen Juliana. On her birthday she gave everyone a day off Cool
Lots of people here dress up in red white and blue plus lots of orange.
There are also some freemarkets on the streets. The one in Amsterdam is the biggest, but I'm not going to Amsterdam anymore on queenssday. It has become too crowded.
Plus there are a lot of music festials on that day. Hope the weather will be nice. It has been very nice this weekend about 20 degrees c.

Yes it sounds like fun! I have to try it one year Smile

Idea The one good thing about it being on a Saturday this year is that least you can sleep in on Sunday, and give you a day to recover from your hangover Wink

Nice to see a topic of mine turned out to be a nice one

But that is logical, with 99% of Dutch forumoholics here....

Altought, it is turning into a beer topic now.... I can't wait til Friday. Than it is Koninginne "nach", and beer will be flowing in my direction indefinately. Hope I don't fall of my bar stool

He has...lol. I've never made it that bad though. When I loose my balance, I'm just going to lie flat on the street...lol. That happened last time on koninginne nach... It was a bit chilly, up to the point a nice lady thought I needed a little bodily warmth... Wink
