As far as I know, PS4 is due out at the end of this year. So PS3 games will still be released until then.

As for after PS4 release, it's difficult to say. It would be foolish for Sony to assume everyone and their uncle will buy a PS4 on release. That said, it stands to reason that it would be a logical move to still release games for the PS3 for a period of time after, possibly a year. But, the PS4 will be the primary focus and as it is meant to be considerably more powerful, I don't expect there will be a lot of cross-platform releases for PS3/PS4 games. However, as I understand, the PS4 will not be backwards compatible with PS3 games (at first), so, again, the logical move would be to continue at least sale of PS3 games after PS4 is released.

I rather doubt there will be a large number of major productions made for the PS3 after PS4 release, because, as I said, PS4 is new, supposed to have more power, etc. Focus will be on PS4.

From what I have heard, some believe that it will be somewhere over the 1k range in price so getting the PS4 is a no sale for me. Even then, its the initial release for the PS4. So if the PS3 was any indication from my experience, the price, performance, and game library won't be doing so well. I used to love the PS2 religiously until the PS3 came out and it kind of worn out its welcome.

Is it worth me getting a PS3 now? I don't know whether I should get a PS3 or a PS Vista (I probably won't get a PS4).

You may as well, like Silv said, the PS3 will still continue to make games even after the next gen's release. In all honesty, go for the PS3.

well if it like the ps2

the ps2 games lasted and made some ports that only the 360 or ps3 could handle, and ps2 get the awful versions of them made by unknown 3rd party companies endings up good or bad

but they kept sport games going for a while until they move on
as the last ps2 game was a sport game that was release around
2010 or 2012?

meaning ps3 would kept going maybe another 3 years more or less
until they move on to just focus on ps4 games.
