This is my theory in which deserves to be on this forum page!

In the cartoon series of 'Rupert,' you may realise that Rupert had two voice actors, a boy actor and an actress. When I heard the boy actor's voice, it sounds to me like a girl sometimes, in which makes me often think that he's gay or something? The actress on the otherhand sounds more like a boy.

Is'nt it strange to think that the boy actor sounds like a girl, whilst the actress sounds like a boy!

Wierd or What!

It's not very surprising.

Most young male characters are voiced by female actors because they sound more "boy-ish" than a male does. I think it might have something to do with the puberty factor. When a guy's voice changes, he often loses the ability to hit those specific notes that a female retains. Those specific boy-like notes. You'd find that most males, when attempting to imitate a child male's voice would only come out as an off note voice more akin to a child female.

Another factor to consider may also be the recording. Some people, regardless of age, are often mistaken for the opposite sex due to the way they sound over the phone or other transmitted signal, even if they sound normal in person.

Take Bart Simpson for example. For.. what, nearly 20 years now? His icon voice has been done by a female.

It may also come down to us being more accustomed to hearing a female doing a young male's voice that when a male does do it, it doesn't sound right.

One would need to do an extensive study and compare males and females doing voices for each of the sexes and then compare those recordings to real young males and females.

You have a point there.

If you watch some of the Series 1 and 2 episodes of Rupert, in comparisons to the later ones, you see what I mean.

This is the channel that has all of the Rupert cartoons.
