Cherry Blossom Tears is a action adventure thriller, set during the upheaval of the invasion of China by the Japanese which led to the Second World War.
The players will assume characters in an alternative world, one in which the technology is more in keeping with that of post war Earth then pre-war and the Axis Powers are stronger then they ever were in our own.
Also in this alternative world inventions have been created that can only be found in the science fiction of our world, while demons dance at the edges of a furry's nightmares.

The game unfolds in this manner. I ( Tearlach) am the game master or GM. I will be providing the basic story line or narrative, describing the players surroundings and the like. I will also in-addition to playing Tearlach, Ganya and Beibhinn, be playing the Non Player Characters or NPC's.
As in the example above the players add their own narration and move the story along. I as the Game master will steer the whole story towards the conclusion.
The rules for the Cherry Blossom tears RPG are simple.
Here are the rules:
1) Everyone (except Tearlach) will post by the list order (If need be I may be able to make adjustments to the list; just ask if you have a problem with it). I will make 2 new lists once we break into teams that will be even more detailed and specific to each team.
2) There will be a time limit for posting (max 24 hours then the turn is forfeit). To be more specific what this one means here is an example: Tearlach makes his post at 8:30 PM and I am next on the list. I have until 8:30PM the next day to make my post and if I don't it just goes to the next person on the list and the clock starts over for them.
3) no one may take someone's turn for them or move someone else's character involuntarily (no playing puppet master)
4) 3 strike violation policy and then removal from the game upon the forth
5) Anyone can pass up their turn whenever they want I just ask that they be kind enough to post that they're not taking their turn so we don't have to wait 24 hours for the next post (This one isn't so much a rule as it is a request)
Smile

My Thanks to Shadofox13 for the rules.
There is a posting list. The players will be listed in order of character posting, like so:
Thorne posted his character on the Sakura tears thread first so he is top of the list. Katmir posted his intention next and he is second in the list. ECT.
I will wait for any interested in playing the game to post their character details in the character thread before starting the Game
In addition I would like to point out that this game will be in the style of "Indiana Jones" movies and the like. No excessive violence or sex. Plenty of good humour and adventure. thank you.
SYNOPSIS:
Manchuria. 18th September 1931
A section of railway track owned by the Japanese Southern Manchuria Railway company is dynamited and destroyed. The Japanese Imperial Army blame Chinese dissidents and invade the province of Manchuria. Using further "incidents" the Japanese armed forces push further in to the province routing the local government and army, eventually renaming the region Manchkuo.
1934
Three years after the Japanese invasion of Manchuria, China is in chaos. The ruling government is weak and ineffectual, the national army is fighting a losing battle as they fall back before the invaders assault and the Japanese air force bomb and strafe the towns and cities with impunity.
Crime Lords rule where they wish and fight amongst themselves for more territory and power. The general population are frightened and helpless, living and dying at the whim of the forces in control.
It is into this anarchy, confusion and tragedy that the players come.
Some seek adventure, some revenge, others...only they know. But come they do and perhaps some will shed...Cherry Blossom Tears. _________________ Terminus: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=239198#239198

Date: February 1st, 1935
Location: A private island in the North Pacific.
The island stood out from its neighbours in the small archipelago, at almost four miles long and two wide it was the largest, but not only that it was the only one that was inhabited.
The most obvious feature of its inhabitants was a runway which ran from the base of an extinct volcano in the north of the island and out for half a mile towards the coast. A large Nissen hut served as a hanger and repair facility. Inside the hanger used for the short flight to Hawaii rested a De Havilland 89A Dragon passenger aircraft.
On the opposite side of the volcano, the main residence, built into and halfway up the side of the volcano overlooked the rest of the island.
All that could be seen of the villa were large windows, some one hundred yards long, underneath which ran a viewing terrace and balustrade.
In the crater itself a large swimming pool and patio had been installed along with potted coconut and date palms creating an peaceful oasis.
Two figures lay on sun loungers close to the pool, both reading. One was a fox, Tearlach, millionaire and owner of the island.
Though middle aged he was still muscular and toned with a distinctive white streak running through the middle of the fur on his head he could be call more striking then handsome, despite this the gossip columns of many newspapers linked his name with that of a plethora of starlets and social climbers.
His companion was also striking but for very different reasons.
Though resembling a puma he was much bigger, well-defined muscles indicated that he spent time in the gym and was possibly a good fighter.
However it was the six inch canine teeth hanging down from his upper jaw that exemplified his species as a smilodon or sabertooth cat.
This was Gany Jerkfofski, Tearlach's engineer. They had meet just after the great war in China as Ganya was fleeing from the Russian Revolutionary Forces. The sabertooth had saved Tearlach's life in a bar fight and the two had become close friends and spent almost a decade exploring the world together. _________________ Terminus: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=239198#239198

1935 CHINA, SHANGHAI:
The first pale light of dawn creeps across the city reflecting off the tattered shroud of smog that envelops the city. The smog is a mixture of cooking fires, factory pollution and burning buildings.
Once again the Japanese Imperial Army Air force had flown a bombing raid during the night, its sole purpose to strike fear into the local populace. Despite these raids, both day and night, life in the city carried on as much as it always had. The streets were crowded even at this early hour with traders, shoppers, refugees and ne'er-do-well's.
The streets themselves were gay with paper lanterns, bunting and banners proclaiming the forthcoming Chinese New Year. _________________ Terminus: http://forums.pleasurebonbon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=239198#239198

(I hope you dont mind me going first.)
"Sheesh again," Rin muttered to herself as she watched the planes fly by. The fox hybrid adjusted the collar of her shirt as she thought of what to say to a potential client if the job was favorable, but first she had to meet them. All she knew was that she got a letter in the mail asking for her assistance. She returned to walking slowly through the crowd, making sure that no one bumps into her or her suitcase. Rin's eyes went from sign to sign, looking for the place that she was ment to meet her contact at.
"This should be it, the letters match," Rin said to her self as she looked at the restaurant. |

=The Chang Jiang River, past Nanjing, China=
Among the water vessels on the river in this area, the sampan boat Katmir Mahal rode on was the fastest. He had modified and attached his Steamer-Sikorsky Motothopter, his 'bike' as he called it, to the rear with the rotor blades churning the waters for maximum speed. The owner of the boat, a humble-faced pig named Chao-Li, steered by the steam powered motorcycle.
"Mr. Mahal! We are almost at the Mouth of the Dragon! You must see the beautiful sights here..!"
The green fox sat inside the canopied living area of the wooden boat, calibrating a small rod contraption of various materials and a clear crystal at the end with a screwdriver. "One second, Chao-Li..." he replied in Cantonese with tired but determined yellow eyes.
"Hurry! There are naked women bathing in the banks here."
Katmir's ears perked up, and he quickly climbed out of the shelter wearing only his khaki pants his head turning this way and that for nude chinese women in the river. He saw only endless fields of rice paddies. He turned to the laughing pig with a pout. "When I get to Shanghai, I am going to... relieve my stress with the first pretty prostitute I meet."
"Oh, ho! Only in Shanghai, Mr Mahal. But the most beautiful women of China live outside of the cities!"
"Yes. Yes they are..." said Katmir. He turned the screwdriver into the rod until it clicked, then turned a small knob on it with his thumb. The crystal at the end flickered with light.
"Is that a strange lantern you have made?"
"No, Chao-Li. It's the important part of a special tool I invented to capture creatures. It's also quite dangerous when I shoot water out through it. It's my water gun."
"What kind of creatures are you going to capture with that light stick, Mr Mahal? Octopus? I'm hungry."
Katmir's accomplished demeanor turned sour and sad, and he stared off into the rushing water. The noise of his bike's flying blades seemed to become an odd gruttural sound like an angry feral growl growing steadily...
"Mister Mahal!" shouted Chao-Li.
Katmir snapped out of it. "Yes? Yes, my friend?"
"You went away for awhile again, Katmir. Was it something I said? I apologize if-"
Katmir felt his muscles ache a bit, even his tail. He had apparently tensed up for a few minutes, losing track of time in his thoughts. "No! Please don't apologize. You said nothing wrong. It was nothing you said..."
He recalled a dark and stormy night on an American Navy ship in the Pacific. He held his water gun aloft, lightning crackling all around, and the screams of crewfurs when something larger than a humpback whale seemed to stand inside the tidal wave that engulfed them...
"... It was nothing you said, Chao-Li. It was something I saw. Is it ironic that I left the Pacific Ocean, and have crossed many, many countries only to find myself heading back towards the Pacific? I mean, the world is round after all, and-"
"Oh, Katmir. The New Year is almost upon us! The Year of the Wooden Pig..! You will make new furiends with big hearts and strong minds, and you will help each other. It will be a good new year for a new you. I know! It says so in the fortune-teller's book. You will see!"
Katmir felt a bit embarrassed, smiling at his fragile state of mind, then smiling at his blessing of a friend in Chao-Li. He touched his snout, realizing it had been awhile since he'd felt that good. Looking ahead, he sat down at the front of the wooden sampan, wondering what adventure awaited him at the end of the Chang Jiang River... in Shanghai.

The first rays of light beamed down into vast fields of rice as the sun rose to start a new day. Poor villagers we're already tending to their fields in a vain attempt to struggle out of poverty. Despite the sweet smell of the crops, plumes of smoke still engulfed the fertile valley from the nearby metropolis of Shanghai. After years of tyranny, hope had vanished in the Land of the Dragon.
As the sun swept the fields, a new breeze wafted from the west as a lone figure crested the horizon. Casually the peasants looked up to the hill to see fox rider come down upon his brown steed. With a gnarled stub of a cigar clenched in his teeth, a sweet fragrance of tobacco shifted about as he rode through the narrow passage between the rice paddies. The villagers began to murmur to themselves as the old foreigner upon a sweet breeze rode silently through their hovel.
Reynard paid them no mind as he continued to ride unwavering towards the metropolis. As a wandering freelancer and warrior, he did not know exactly what waited from him there, but he did certainly fathom it's extreme importance. The sheathed sword on his back quivered more vigorously as he neared the city. An untold evil of great magnitude awaited before him.
He sighed to himself while maintaining his composure. In the depths of his conscience he pondered over his life and what he's witnessed. He wondered how many times history would have to repeat itself. Over his adventures across the globe, he's witnesses and participated in many battles of the past decades...
“Sometimes I wonder, oh lord, if what I'm doing really makes a difference.” he mediated as his steed continued upon the dirt path. “When will the wars end in this plane of existence? While I faithfully continue to be your knight, a little providence is all I ask.”
Upon his contemplation, the Durendal upon his back shook heavily as boat sped past with feverish speed towards the vibrant city in the nearby river. His aged eyes followed the boat towards the metropolis, taking note of the passengers. In the far off distance, he could make out other vehicles make their descent on the city. He pondered no more as he gave a quick whip of the reigns, urging his fine steed to go faster. _________________ Fursona:

Sundown... it's almost time to get moveing Gen thought as he looked over the hill at the plains full of rice paddies and the outer edges of a forest in the distance with the last bit of the days light. After about half a hour Gen stood up, turned around, and started walking down the hill. At the base of the hill he came to a wall of tree's and bamboo. He quickly entered and didn't go far in and stoped.
"Ok it's time to pack up and get going." Gen said with a hent of hush in his voice.
A few moans excaped the refugee's mouths as the sound of a few pots and pans clanked together and cloth being moved around. "Time all ready? It feels like we just stoped." A old cracked voice from a panda said as he came into veiw. He has on a commen tunic and shorts. "I must be getting old..." He continued as he walked past Gen hunched over his cane.
"Ya but not old enof to stop wondering off!" Another panda wispered mockingly as she came into view. She also has a tunic but her once long dress was now a knee skirt from wear and tear. "Now come on everyone is almost done packing up."
"So have you given it any more thought boy?" The old panda asked.
"I've said it once and i'll keep saying it. No. I'm not looking to start a family yet." Gen said as he looked at the old panda.
"Your just being modist becouse she is watching." The old panda replied.
"He told you no so leave it. Now come on and help finnish packing." She said at the old panda.
"But Ming, He is a good guy." The old panda replied as he poked Gen in the side with his cane.
"Just come on and help finnish." Ming said as she turned around and walked back to camp.
"And no i wasn't being modist. Also no more pokeing me with that thing. Your stong for a old timmer." Gen said as he leaned on a tree.
"Thanks again for helping us and our group." The old panda said as he started leaning on his cain again.
"It's my pleasure and plus it's a samuri's job to make sure the safety of Civilians." Gen responded.
"Well i better be going back." The old panda said as he fallowed Ming. "Oh and here's some good info" He wispered as he got right beside Gen and put his left hand beside his mouth. "She had a dream about you." He wispered and then backed away. The old panda started cracking up and walked back to camp.
Gen just stayed there blushing. I wonder if he told the truth. Gen thought and then as if right on que a clank fallowed by the old panda saying ow. "Heh." Gen said as he walked a little deeper into the forest to where the camp was.
"Ok every one is packed and ready to go." the old panda said to Gen as he came into view.
"And no thanks to you." Ming mocked him.
"Ok." Gen said as he looked over everyone. There was Ling, her grampa, Two other panda's, a few mice, a couple of cats, and a couple of bunnies. Most had nothing with them, some had a bag with food, and a few had bags with blankets in it and pots and pans tied to the back.
"Ok if we walk most of the night we will reach Shanghai by morning." Gen continued as a few groans mixed with a few sighs excaped the refugee's. "Lets go!" Gen almost yelled as he looked left and pointed. Everyone of the refugee's started walking. Gen stayed put and watched everyone leave. He then looked over where the camp was, makeing sure nothing was left and joged ahead of the group. _________________ yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. that's why it is called the present.

The streets of Shanghai were quite busy at this time of day. People going about their business, elites and tourist heading to the restaurants for lunch while peasants and merchants struggled to earn, cheat, or beg through life.
Thorne felt a little uneasy, it had been a while since he had been in a place this crowded. The sights were also quite foreign to him, he only recognized the symbols covering the signs as letters not of his own tongue. He could careless about their meanings, most worldly things have lost meaning to him.
His journey had brought him a long way from that farmer's field in England. Not recognizing England as his own anymore he sought out adventure towards the east, a word of the unruly occurrences out there attracted him.
Along his journey he crossed many lands, crossing some of the grounds crusaders had passed before him. He almost decided to stay in Persia, hoping that his sword and honor might put an end to corruption there. However he was driven from there, a rich sheik had no desire for the wicked dealings to end, for they had brought him great wealth. The sheik told Thorne that if he continued to meddle in Persia that he would be turned into an oil can, a very undesirable end to Thorne's purpose.
So Thorne continued east into China. The country side here appeared to be relatively peaceful, mountain monks keeping to themselves, rice farmers tending to their fields; occasionally though Thorne managed to appease is sword whenever roadside bandits tried to ambush him. "Atleast I leave the path behind me a little bit safer" he thought after each attack. Thorne found very little purpose on the countryside. Though he did manage to find some, in the country just out of Shanghai. Thorne was walking along the path, passing an old rundown shack of a house. An old rat sitting on a makeshift porch called out to him. "Stranger your steps sound heavy, might you be kind enough to help out an old man," said the old rat sitting with his legs crossed. "Why certainly sir, what will you have me do?" Thorne replied. Thorne stayed with this man for awhile performing mundane tasks for the old farmer. There were peach tree trucks that needed lifted from their roots in the rice paddies, a few stones were removed from paths the old man desired to take, but soon the old man was satisfied. "You made an old man happy sir, such kindness from a stranger, you have a kind heart in you" said the old man. "I was glad to be of service sir, and now I'll continue down the road," explained Thorne. "I warn you to be cautious iron one, Shanghai lies in your path, and there are many who might have ill interest in a person in your state." replied the old rat. The rat figured a disguise was in order, so he provided Thorne with a straw cloak that covered his upper body, and shaded his face from sight.
Thorne now missed the countryside, he felt that every eye was upon him, but this was in his head, despite his odd appearance and his towering height, the folks of Shanghai were too busy to notice him. Yet his uneasiness persisted, his movement through the crowd being quite awkward. "I just hope I don't run into anybody, a suit of armor surely isn't the most pleasant thing to run into." He thought to himself, as he moved about. |

Somewhere on the Yangtze River
A small covered, river boat floated along with the current, as Nikolai sat in the front, darting his eyes along the banks. His nose twitched as familiar scents of the local foods wafted across the open river.
"Sir! We're nearing Shangai!" A high pitched voice shouted as a rather busty female tree frog slide from under the boats tarping.
"Thank you Sasha" Nikolai responded, lifting his hood up over his head. It wasn't often he ventured into cities, much less ones in China. Even more less, Shanghai. A deal was to be made though, one that would promise great return if he managed to survive. He gazed down through the murky water, furrowing his brow and frowning. "Sasha, when we get to shore, I will disembark. I want you to head to head away from here, far away."
"But sir! You need my help" She insisted, her shrill voice making Nikolai wince.
"This is a place of many danger to anyone near me Sasha. I will not have you hurt. Do not argue with me" He said gruffly, reaching under his cloak and pulling Hephaestus from its holster and checking the cylinder to make sure it was loaded. Sasha huffed in anger, but kept her mouth shut. She knew that once Nikolai had a goal in is mind, very little could sidetrack him. She continued paddling the boat down the river in silence as Nikolai shined Hephaestus.
((not great and I stole Katmir's idea (Had the idea from a city used in my fav anime just to find out it's the same place you used :p) I hope it will be acceptable.)) _________________

Rin took a deep breath before opening the door and slowly entering the building as she took a moment to let her eyes take in the sceanery. The reataurant was some were between fancy and common, it was the kind of place that attracted adventerus tourist from America and England that wanted some thing differnt from what they could find in Hong Kong. "Hello Miss, how may i help you?" a Female Siamese cat said to Rin as she approched the front podium. "Why yes, I bealive that some one here is expecting me in this establishment, Is eny one here expecting a Rin Himmel?" Rin asked nicely as she tryed to keep her eyes to the Cat's face rather than down at her legs that the cat's very small blue cheingsam dress barely covered.
All Rin can do now was wait and see who sent for her. But, if the person in question wasn't ther, she could always try pick up lines on the cute cat. |

=The end of the Chang Jiang, or Yangtze River=
Katmir's heart was racing as they neared the shores of the city, enjoying the feel of the wind on his face. He was anxious to dismantle his bike from the back of Chao-Li's sampan and rig it back into its intended form, the steam-powered motothopter. With switch here and a crank there, his Stanley Steamer motorcycle would deploy Mr Sikorsky's revolutionary thopter design and take him into the air if need be. It was as ludicrous a contraption as it was thrilling. He often wondered why it wasn't more a popular vehicle nowadays.
Just as he turned to put his 'water gun' back together, a particularly bodacious tree frog paddling another sampan caught his eyes. Asian women this far southeast weren't known for their ample breasts. And the men didn't shine large pistols in broad daylight, either. But due to the speed at which his bike's engine and rotor blades took them, Katmir dismissed them as mere tourists and hoped that the husky's aim was true if they were found by trouble.
"Chao-Li, will you do me one last favor and pray to your gods that a Japanese bomb does not destroy me?", asked the green fox in Cantonese.
"Oh, Mister Mahal, Shanghai has survived many explosives raids in the past year. It is the crime lords that you should be wary of despite the gods and demons watching over you. They have a... sense of humor you have yet to understand."
"Positive statements, Chao-Li! Accentuate the positive!"
"May the gods protect you on your sacred journey, Mister Mahal.", replied the porcine man.
"That's the spirit!" he said, attaching a crystal tipped tube to the hose of his 'water gun' backpack. "And soon... some richly deserved and detestable sex!"
Chao-Li rolled his eyes to the sky, turning the knob on Katmir's motothopter to slow it down while they reached the inlet.

The fields of sweet smelling rice was soon behind him. Reynard pressed forward towards the threshold of Shanghai. Upon its entrance, the poor farmers of the fields were soon replaced with the low class hustle of metropolis. Reynard pulled the brim of his hat upon his brow and kept going at his own pace, weaving through the crowds on his steed. His horse, Marion, trotted upon the streets corruption. Though the scenery and sights were different, the atmosphere was all too familiar to him; whether it be the wilderness of Texas, the seediness of New York, the war torn fields of France, the cold desolation of Russia, it was all the same.
Despite its complete foreign feel, the Freelancer was as sharp as ever. Nary did he speak a word of Mandarin, the way the urbanites conversed, slight gestures of hands, how they carried themselves, and just the sorrowful demeanor about them spoke loud and clear to him. Quickly, he chuckled to himself, “I wonder if I would have been better as a sales man?” The thought of him hopping from town to town on train to train like peddlers of fire arms and barb wire made him smirk as to think that sorry folk could have been him.
Still, he dismissed the silly notion as he traversed deeper into the heart of the city. Rickshaws whizzed by him on the winding roads filled with various furs gathering around the market stalls that line the streets. Crude signs written in an alien language offered deals to the degenerates while some of the seemingly upper scale joints had neon signs the flickered with imperfections. Of one such establishment that caught Reynard's attention, as well as his grumbling stomach, was a seemingly popular dine-in that attracted both the low class as well as the wealthy. Looking the place once over, Reynard smirked and shrugged, “I suppose this is a good place as any.”
His sheathed sword quivered strongly for a second as to confirm his decision. _________________ Fursona:

"Ah Shanghai." Gen sighed as he looked at the city in the distace from atop the hill. "Ok we are almost there." Gen said as he looked behind him.
"Ooh's" and "awe's" excaped the mouthes of the refugree's that reached the top of the hill and begain fast walking to the city. Some said "Thank's" as they past him.
"Still haven't changed your mind?" The old voiced continued.
"Still haven't given up yet?" Gen asked back.
"Can't blame me for trying." The old panda said as he stoped right becide Gen. "If she hasn't found a man by time the war is over i'm going to hunt you down and bring my back for my Ling." The old panda chucled as he poked Gen in the side with his cane. "Well see you later then Gen." The old panda said as he started walking with the rest of the group.
"You do know he going to try to hunt for you no matter what right?" Ling asked as she stood beside Gen.
"Ya i know. He is just worried for you." Gen said as he scaned the horizen.
"Ya i know." Ling mocked. "He was telling the truth and your alwase welcome at our... place." Ling wispered the last part as she lowered he head and grabed one of her elbows.
"I'll have to come by to vi." Gen started as he turned to look at her. As he was is the middle of his centince she kissed him. Gen frozed.
"I'll hold you to it." She wispered as she got done kissing him and ran to her grampa.
I... I... I... Was all Gen could think and say becouse he didn't see it comeing at all. Ok! Gen rowred in his head. Grab my bow, arrows, get my horse, and then go and help more furs! Gen yelled in his head as he poined into the distince. As soon as he took one step to Shanghai his stomiche rowred. Ok food first then get my stuff. Gen thought as he stumbled a little. _________________ yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. that's why it is called the present.

As Barnabas continued his awkward maneuvering about the crowded streets, he noticed that he was being followed. A glance over his shoulder revealed to him a rather heavy set Boar; the Boar's gaze fixated upon him.
"Well I'm not much for turning tail," Barnabas thought to himself. Barnabas stood aside from the busy river of people. The Boar made his advance towards him. He reached Barnabas and gave him a menacing scowl, Barnabas raised his fists toward his opposition, however no blows were exchanged. "Put those down before you hurt someone" commanded the boar. "And your disguise is horrible," the boar exclaimed, spiting up a good deal of flem after this statement. The boar then used all his might to push Barnabas into an ally, Barbabas's feet leaving two trails of plowed dirt where they had been.
"Damn your a heavy person," exclaimed the boar.
"If you wanted me to move you could have asked, now enlighten me on why you sought me out" replied Barnabas.
"I'm trying to help you out you ignorant American, their are agents of sorcery about looking to capture you," answered the boar.
"You have been misinformed, I'm not an American, and my coming here is unexpected," replied Barnabas.
"You mean your weren't sent for for a job?" questioned the puzzled boar, hocking up another good bit of flem.
"No I'm afraid not, but if their is someone in danger, I must do what I can to assist," answered Barnabas.
"Good, I may need the assistance, see my boss sent me to look out for an American that might have some trouble," stated the Boar, "seeing you walk around so awkwardly I thought you might be that American in disguise, guess my boss didn't give me the specifics." "Anyways you see that restaurant over there?" asked the boar.
"Sure," replied Barnabas, not aware that that was a restaurant till the fact was pointed out.
"Now see that scar riddled tiger over there, hiding in the ally," questioned the boar.
Barnabas became aware of this tiger, his face had a good bit of scars about it, clear signs of a battle worn warrior. "Ya I see him" answered Thorne.
"Well he's a known agent of sorcery and not a good friend of my boss, he's here to assassinate that American I looking for." explained the boar.
"Well we can't be having that," exclaimed Barnabas. Barnabas began to cross the street towards the restaurant, he would be seated in side, and search for the American he planned to protect. As he approached the entrance the tiger gave Barnabas an uneasy glare. |

=The Mouth of The Dragon, Shanghai=
Chao-Li maneuvered his sampan against the dock at the end of the mighty river. Katmir zipped up his khaki jumpsuit and strapped on his toolkit belt before commencing the task of reconfiguring his "bike" from a boat engine back to it's motothopter form. They both looked about the Inner Bay area of Shanghai with mixed emotions, as it was painfully obvious that the Japanese had flown a bomb raid the night before. However, the locals in all their varied backgrounds and circumstances were still preparing the city for the New Year.
Soon, the green fox had his 'water gun' backpack on and his steam-powered motorcycle on dry land. He propped it on his kickstand and turned to Chao-Li with his hands pressed together in customary gesture. "Chao-Li, you have been a good friend to me. May good fortune rain upon you and yours."
The porcine man made a big smile and said, "We will always be friends, Katmir. May your journey be a happy one. Oh, shit!"
"What!?" asked Katmir, spinning around to see some feline fur try to run off with his motorbike. the thief ran quickly since he couldn't figure out how to turn it on. Katmir reached over his shoulder for the crystal tipped rod hooked to his backpack by a cord. Apathetic onlookers got out of the way as the fox aimed at the thief with it. There was an audible whirring sound coming from the backpack and the crystal at the business end of the rod glowed brightly. A small arc of electricity shot out of the rod, causing Katmir to brace himself against the power output. The tiny lightning bolt hit the cat thief's back for two mere seconds, felling him and causing his fur to stand on end. Katmir ran towards his quarry and his property.
"Welcome to Shanghai, Katmir! Bye bye!", said Chao-Li as he pushed off the dock with his long oar.
"Be safe, Chao-Li! And as for you..!" said the fox to the thwarted thief when he got his bike back. "... you will always remember that such savage behavior will be met with an adequate whipping!"
The adolescent feline quivered and apologized in Mandarin to the American with the lightning stick. Katmir just pointed at him sternly before riding off into the crowded streets. "Now, where oh where is my little piece of won-ton cooch? I hope I find a decent Madarin teacher..."
After a few minutes of riding slowly through some bomb demolished yet festive streets of Shanghai, Katmir comes to a full stop when possibly the most beautiful Chinese cat girl he has ever seen stood in front of him in a green dress.
"Oh, baby am I gonna eat you like the delicious buffet you are." ,He muttered to himself. Then the sexy girl shook her head in a denying manner and looked to her right. Katmir follower her train of sight to a rather camouflaged entrance. When he turned to ask her something, she had disappeared into the crowds. "Huh? Oh well,it must be the whorehouse she works in.I see how it is."
Katmir parked his bike right out front, turning a knob that caused it to vibrate softly. He got off and walked into the mysterious building. A curious youngster tried to touch the handlebars but was shocked a little hard by the bike's own electrical protective device.
The green fox inhaled the scents of Chinese cuisine, instead of the perfume and pheromones he expected. "Waitaminnit... This ain't a brothel. It's a restaurant!", he said out loud.

Reynard pushed open the vast double doors of the restaurant. At first glance, the establishment seemed to be filled with furs of all kinds and classes. Indeed it appeared to be a gathering place of all. More over, the smell of fine meals stifled the place accompanied by the clanging of utensils and chatter of Mandarin and English.
Upon crossing the threshold, Reynard surveyed the restaurant. The place was built in a semi circle with two tiers. The lower tier which circled the perimeter of the establishment had a bar on the far left and most sat lower class peasants. Meanwhile, the higher tier within the center housed the upper crust of Shanghai society. On the far side of the bustling floor and near the higher class seating rose a stage that looked to house some sort of entertainment for late evenings. Throughout the dinning areas were weaved intricate half walls of orient shapes, fire breathing dragons, phoenixes, and other mythical creatures of ages long past. At some point in the past, the architecture must have impressed rich and poor alike, but after decades of age, it begun to wear away from years of apparent abuse, most like from drunken brawls Reynard reckoned.
Still, Reynard felt welcome here and the food sure smelled good to his seasoned pallet. In accompaniment, his stomach grumbled urging him to get some to eat right this damn second. On cue, a lovely young Siamese cat in a tight and revealing pink dress greeted him in Mandarin that Reynard didn't fully understand.
"I'll just help my self to the bar." He answered, motioning towards the long bar complete with a few obnoxious patrons.
"Ah, so!" She brightly replied, "If you need help, please ask!"
Reynard tipped the brim of his hat and sauntered over to the bar, coming to the first available stool. He knocked on the counter and requested a whiskey which the Pug behind the bar quickly served. The old freelancer sipped on his drink while he looked around at the patrons, seeing the meals they were partaking and figuring out what looked good. Upon scouting meals for a potential good dinner candidate, a figure caught his eye on the opposite end of the restaurant. There sat a lone vixen looking about who definitely looked to be just as foreign to this environment as he was. The apparent fox hybrid fidgeted once or twice as Reynard casually looked over his shoulder. Once more, his sheathed sword vibrated through his fur, bones, and soul telling him that she was important.
While the importance was clearly unknown to him, he surely wouldn't ignore his blessed blade's signals. With a quick motion, he brought the bartender over.
"Gimme that noodle thing that's on that guy's plate over there," he inquired, pointing at a fat tabby's plate of shrimp lo mein, "and send a martini to that there fox miss across the place who's sittin' by herself." _________________ Fursona:

Katmir was perturbed about the way he had been led to this restaurant, especially when he was hungry for vagina, not Moo Goo Gai Pan. That's when his stomach reminded him that his jackhammer needs fuel. The scents were delicious, and so he allowed his train of thought to derail on the voracious appetite of the southeast asians.
"Okay, mama-san. You're the latest post sign on my mysterious journey here. Now I just need another clue..." he spoke to himelf out loud sometimes. Maybe more than he'd noticed since that terrible day on the US Navy vessel. It's not that he was afraid of seafood - just the sea making him into food. Or something. Sometime. By someone... that doesn't quite belong...
Then his daytripping cleared, and he pegged several patrons as more than foreigners. These furs, sitting here and standing there, stuck out of the crowd with their uninhibited mannerisms and outlandish attire like a heckling drunkard in the middle of a Sunday sermon. He was supposed to be here, alright.
"But the question is, who's the lucky Shanghai gal that's gonna get to torque my wrench? And who's the oddball that's gonna clue me on my quest? Who??"
"Ni-Hao, Amelican!" greeted a gorgeous smiling siamese hostess. "Will you be smoking or non smoking?"
Katmir inhaled and bit his lip for a seond. "Baby, how about you help me out with that, and we can talk about stuffed clams right now?"
"Ohhh..! We have much clam over there and over there, and is rear good! Will you like me at table or plivate booth?"
Katmir's right hand seemed to have a life of its own as it slapped his face with a quick whack. He reached into his toolbelt and pawed the Chinese kitten enough paper to make her eyes bulge unprofessionally. "Oh, please follow me, mister, er.."
"Mahal."
"This away, Mister Maharu!"
He let her lead him by the hand to his seat. That's when his eyes turned to the fancy double-door entrance of the restaurant. Someone with a noticeable presence entered.
