The day was quiet, Wolf enjoying the silence as he sat in the park to read one of his infamous, coverless books. It seemed brand new though, so odds are it was bought recently. The breeze swayed left and right, making it littlle chilly. The sun was out and everyone seemed to be enjoying themself.

Grimm, not being one for quietude, was currently spying in for pretty women left and right. The tree was next to the seat Wolf was in, as well as growing Apples. With a full mouth and an obnoxious tone, his oice spoke out.

"Quietsh day ishn't it?"
"Yes. Too quiet for you?"
"Yesh."

Beneath the shade of a large tree, a young fox sat reading a book. The wind gently, whipping open her unbuttoned shirt which she promptly pulled closed.

"Brrrr," the beauty muttered to herself as she shifted, trying to shield herself from the chill wind.

Absorbed by the words on the pages in her book, the fox didn't notice a large rat walk passed her. The rat, wearing mostly black leather with seemingly random stitching here and there, made himself comfortable on the opposite side of the tree trunk.

Thomas sat there for several minutes, slowly edging his way around the tree trunk towards the fox's side. When he was close enough to reach, he crept out his hand, like a snake preparing to strike, and silently gathered the fox's belongings. With her possessions between his fingers, the rat slowly pulled his arm back casually. Finally, he inched back around the tree before standing and calmly walking away.

The panther wasn't one for thievery as he was watching the whole while what the rat was doing and growled out in silence.

"Excushe me ash I go kick thish guy'sh assh."
Don't speak with your mouth full."

The reaction was instantaneous as Grimm hanged from the tree upside down and somehow swallowed the piece of food as he was.

"Better?"
"No. You're still here, I can't read and there's a rat running away with a bounty of someone else."
"Good point!"

Wolf sighed and went back to his intricate literature as Grimm broke into a sprint across the park in direction of the Rat.

"Hey you! Freeze!!!"

Thomas walked casually. When he heard a voice call out, he glanced around as if looking to see what was going on. Seeing a panther running over to him, Thomas stopped and spoke calmly and innocently.

"Can I help you?" Thomas asked.

Thomas side stepped as the panther approached, avoiding the tackle. Discretely slipping the items he held into a pocket, Thomas immediately prepared himself for a fight.

"Now that was just rude," he said bluntly, "What drove you to do that?"

Grimm was clumsy, but not stupid. His glare quickly held a smile against the rat.

"I saw ya taking those items. Return them, or get an ass whupping."

He had already prepared himself in a battle stance, one of Tae-Kwon-Do, no less.

Thomas stepped back swiftly, avoiding the kick, then lunged forward, driving his steel clad fist towards the panther's jaw.

The panther stepped to the side in a similar manner as the rat did before and attempted to Roundhouse the Rat with his right boot.

Thomas used his momentum and rolled forward. Quickly, he stood up and turned, taking a step back to ensure at least a few feet were between himself and the panther.

"What is your problem?" Thomas asked, still feigning innocence. Anyone watching might have thought the panther a raving lunatic attacking people at random.

Grimm wasn't convinced of his innocence, nor was he going to let him get away. A small crowd of people were now watching him as he attempted to swing a haymaker the rat's way in order to close the gap.

"That you stole some stuff! Drop the act or get an ass whupping!"

Wolf had stopped reading for a few seconds just to watch Grimm's failure to land a single hit on the thieving rat. This in turn made him sigh.

'You really need to practice more'

Grimm stepped foward again, rather pissed by now.

"You little bastard! Empty your pockets then!"

Thomas paused for only a couple of seconds. His eyes moved rapidly, scouring the entire park. Then he saw it, his escape.

Without a word, not even a hint, the rat twisted and bolted. He moved fast, making his way towards the edge of the park. He didn't look back, he didn't need to. He knew the panther would be there, behind him.

Though Thomas had a destination in mind, he made several detours in his path. He ran straight towards people, particularly standing people. As he went passed them, he altered his course slightly, putting them between himself and any pursuers he had. The delay would have been minor, but every fraction of an inch he could put between himself and whoever was behind him was worth gaining.

"Gah, you bastard!!!"

Grimm broke into a mad chase, after the rat. As he weaved his way amongst large crowds of people, the panther had the horrible luck of getting caught between them. The distance that it put between him and the rat thief grew larger and larger, until he quickly lost sight of him.

"Damn!!"

Thomas didn't stop until he reached the edge of the park. Once out of the open, he darted into a shadow and risked a look back. He didn't see the panther, or anyone else that looked like they were searching for him.

Taking a deep breath, Thomas started moving towards the edge of town, keeping hidden. He moved from shadow to shadow, or stuck to the crowds. Never once did he removed his newly acquired items from his pocket. There would be plenty of time for that later. No need to be distracted now.

Nevertheless, Grimm was once persistent bastard. As a ex-thief himself, he knew very well how one of his own kin would work. They would rendevouz to a secluded location to take in they're loot and otherwise. His trail started in the alleyways, watching around for any suspicious movement, but to no avail. Yet he still walked around with his eyes peeled.

'Damned, rat bastard......next time just pull out the gun to his head.'

Thomas gradually made his way towards the edge of town, never moving in one direction for too long. He crossed streets, turned corners, even doubled back a couple of times. One thing he'd learnt in his life, just because you can't see them behind you, doesn't mean they aren't there.

Eventually the rat reached the edge of town and crossed into the woods where he relaxed a little. Though he never assumed he was safe. Remaining suspicious of the shadows around him, Thomas made his way to a small clearing, but did not enter. He stayed in the shadows and watched, waiting to see if anyone that might be following him would show themselves.

This panther continued to check the alleyways and even reached as far as climbing a house in order to check large crowds and areas simultaneously and yet, nothing. A total of 10 minutes had passd during this and so, Grimm had no option than to begin thinking.

'Ten minutes....he should have moved far enough by now. Odds are he's hiding in one of these houses, or in the outside woods. Guess it wouldn't hurt to take the woods as a better estimate.'

His porch above a large house held no answers, so a quick sprint and jumping from house roof to house roof, he made it rather quickly to the edge of town, hopping down into the forest below without so much as a scratch. There was a clearing up ahead and without putting much thought into it, walked in headfirst, keeping both ears and eyes perked in all directions.

Thomas didn't have to wait long. As he suspected, the panther had tracked him into the woods. With a wicked grin, Thomas moved silently around the edge of the clearing, moving from tree to tree. He watched the panther closely, inspecting every little movement he made, searching for any kind of weakness he might be able to exploit. From his hiding place, the rat had a clear view of the panther.

Grimm continued his headlong path, standing into the middle of the clearing and crossing his arms. Sudden noises of rustling made it apparent that there was a critter around, by the cracking and movement, it was apparent that it was no feral animal. Suspicions arose within the panther's mind.

'So's he spying on me, eh? Let's see who get's the jump on who.'

He wasn't entirely sure if it was him, but he rose his guard nonetheless. The sudden stop in that stark middle made it clear that he was onto someone, or something for that matter. Nonetheless, no quick movements were made. His ears only perked up at each single noise, keeping track of even the slightest rumble.

Thomas' eyes moved from the panther to the opposite side if the clearing. Keeping the panther in his view, the rat eyed the shadows carefully where the noise was coming from. Who'd you bring along with you, panther? Thomas thought to himself.

Silently, he made is way towards one of the larger trees. Concealed in the crevice of a branch, and hidden more so by the shadows, was a short piece of bamboo. In the trunk itself was a small hole. Inside the hole were several darts Thomas had acquired a few months earlier from someone rounding up escaped asylum residents. At first the rat thought of just tossing the darts away, but soon discovered, after tapping the end with his finger and passing out for almost five hours, that the darks were tipped with a tranquilliser.

Keeping close to the thick tree, Thomas inserted one of the small darks into the bamboo pipe, aimed, and blew hard, sending the dark soaring through the air to find its mark in the panther's neck.

Grimm rose his head when the sounds of something small began whizzing across the air. With so much as a tilt of his head, the dart passed a mere few inches from his face, doing no more than just moving his fur is fur a little. The very angle of the dart alone gave way to the rat's position, making him turn around in order to glare at the treeline once more.

"I know you're in here. Either come out clean, or I pull out some firepower."

In the treeline straight behind Grimm, Wolf was quietly sat on a branch, watching in silence.

'Seems like this shall be more entertaining than reading a book after all.'

Thomas didn't move. Not a sound was made. If the panther knew where he was, rushing him was useless. In order to keep the upper hand, the rat needed to draw the panther to him. Hidden by the large tree, Thomas was safe. Unless this panther possessed some kind of rocket hidden in his clothing, the tree would continue to be the rat's loyal defence.

Grimm remained serious, something that actually made him fearful. Stark red eyes glared up the massive trunk of the tree before him.

"So that's how you're gonna play, eh? Two can play that game...."

In an instant, he uncrossed his arms and began running in direction of the tree.

Thomas waited. He watched every slight movement the panther made as he moved towards the tree. The panther was moving out of the light, that would reduce his vision slightly. He was rushing into an unknown situation, giving Thomas the advantage of preparedness. The panther had no way of knowing what else the rat might have stashed behind the tree.

The same could be applied to Grimm. The panther had one thing going for him, that within his jacket he held a vast majority of 'tools' that would undoubtedly help with the capture of this petty thief. Of course, nothing petty could be said about him, for he was highly skilled, something Grimm had to respect.

The distance between him and the tree was cut short in a matter of seconds as he now reached up to it's massive trunk and quickly jumped up, using his very claws as tools to climb up.

"You're mine!"

As the panther scaled the tree, Thomas took several steps back. He wasn't sure why he was going up there, but it gave him a height advantage over the rat. Before the panther had a chance to jump down on him, Thomas retreated further into the woods, making sure to keep close to the trees as he moved.
