If I may indulge and jump back a month to my last post:
Quote: | The other I don't know the name of - a female chipmunk or squirrel from a Chip and Dale cartoon we had. I honestly remember nothing about her except that I was embarrassed how much I liked seeing her. |
I was amused tonight after remembering this early chipmunk girl so recently to stumble upon a Chip and Dale DVD collection that actually had this cartoon. I picked it up, of course. Her name was Clarice.
Now back to your regularly scheduled conversation. _________________ http://harmlesslion.com |

It really is a shame that so many people hear the words "heavy metal" and immediately think of a band like Metallica (not that Metallica is necessarily bad mind you, but in my opinion they haven't been metal in a long time) as "stereotypical". It can make it hard for good bands like Mercenary, Testament, Symphony X, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Evergray, Rage, Iron Savior, Iced Earth, and many others to garner the popularity or media attention they deserve. Then again, I'm a metal head, so I might be just a little bit biased. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

Really? Foil, Epee or Sabre? Or are you using "fencing" as a generic term to refer to a non-European style like Kenjutsu? _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

I professionally trained in foil, Xebulon, but I've never actually lost any physical fight before. With the exception of one wrestling match, but I was 8, he was 12 and he had about a hundred pounds on me. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

Impressive Ashton. I've always been more of a sabre man myself. No formal training though, mind you. _________________ I like old jokes. With them I know when to laugh. |

It did'nt take me long to figure out that style of fencing was'nt for me, but I stuck with it for a year to give it a fair chance. I've always been more drawn towards martial arts anyway. Over five years of active practice spread over two different styles and I never lost a match, not to mention the countless matches between friends. In case you could'nt tell, I'm very proud of it. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

None that I can see, anyway. I could go on and on about my exploits but that would just clutter things up again and, regretably, I've already earned a certain German vixen's ire by doing so and I have absolutely no wish of doing so again. I'm not sure I could take it. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

Its quite difficult to jump into a discussion with all of you moving at such a faster pace than myself, due to the number of visits.
I'd love to fence, except I've always been far too reckless for such a precision based fighting style. I've always been much more of a customized style. I'm the bastard dual wielding, aka akimbo. There was another word for it, something like florentine...Anyways, I'm the one coming at you with multiple swings and isn't afraid to sweep a leg or kick in there to keep you constantly on your toes.
As far as music, I have a variety of what I enjoy. I do lean towards rock/metal for the most part, because I enjoy music that is uptempo, though anything with a catchy melody (alternative, classic, etc) can also catch my attention. The grandest category I've ever seen labeled on a band was Rhapsody - Epic Hollywood Symphonic Rock.
Herisheft, as well as any of our foreign, non-English speaking members, your all too critical of yourselves. I can make out what most of you are trying to say, whether you use the correct words or not. Hell, there are plenty who speak English who do a poorer job than you all. _________________ The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last. |

Hey, just because I started with one of my fav's, doesn't mean I go to that as a steriotype. In fact, I am a big fan of all those bands you just mentioned, especially Helloween. _________________ BonBon Spirits and Sidearms

*facepalm*
Anyway, I tend to like all sorts of music, though I have to admit my metal knowledge has been sorely lacking for a while now... probably due to the fact that I worked as a DJ at a nightclub for about 4 years, and I had listen to hip-hop and r&b constantly (which wasn't necessarily a bad thing...)
My rock tastes tend to gravitate toward the 90's rock, grunge, and alt-rock stuff, basically everything from that decade: Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, White Zombie/Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Rage Against the Machine, Local H, Foo Fighters, Deftones, KoRn... the list goes on. I've started to slowly branch out beyond my decade of choice, with Motorhead, AC/DC and Led Zepplin mostly (you know, the classices), but I'm sadly out of place when it comes to the newer bands, as I sort of stopped listening to new rock after Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit showed up on the scene...
Most of the newest rock stuff I've been listening to has been stuff I just happened to stumble upon (Maximum the Hormone, Sound of Urchin) or who have done live shows in my town (Pop Evil, Melt Banana).

I've never really been into heavy metal. Pop/rock is more my thing (Coldplay are the best in my eyes).
P.S. Y'know, there is a topic dedicated to music, and this one is meant to be for confessions about how you entered furry fandom.. heavens, I sound like a moderator at times. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |

Fear me! Tremble before my wrath!
*Manages to keep her face straight for a whole ten seconds, then breaks out in laughter* Just relax, Ashton.
As for music, I am something of an abomination in that I just don't listen to anything. I don't own any sort of music playing device nor music to play on one. I simply don't care and seem to be the only person who can be happy with silence all day. _________________ "Doktor! Are you sure this will work?!" "HAHA! I HAVE NO IDEA!" |

I didn't mean to imply that you did. Just making a point. And if you like Iron Savior, how can you not like Helloween? Piet was one of Helloween's founding members and Kai Hansen has done a lot with both bands (so long as he stays the hell away from the mic, he's great). _________________ I like old jokes. Florentine is a particular style which, if I remember right, is based on using a sword in your right hand and a parrying dagger in your left. I believe it it made heavy use of the "main gauche" style of dagger.

If memory serves, a small shield, placed on the wrist of the hand holding the dagger, was also introduced some time after that style was developed. Don't take my word for it, though, I'm very tired and distracted right now. _________________ Silentium est aurum |

I'm no expert, but I believe all three of you are right. As far as I'm aware, florentine is wielding two weapons. The most common are sword and dagger (the original style), and two swords. _________________ Wow, sarcasm! That's original. |
