It was something Leaf had dreamed of doing for years. Now, he had finally owned his very own bookstore.

The store itself was a small two-story building with a glass window bearing the name "The Gilded Pen" in golden lettering. The most popular books were placed in a display behind the window. The floor was mahogany wood with the walls covered in light green wallpaper. Five large wooden shelves with mobile ladders were lined up in front of one another behind the counter. There was a door behind the fifth shelf that lead to a storage area where special orders were kept and a staircase at the corner of the store led up to his apartment.

Leaf had just finished dusting the shelves when he heard the town bell ring nine times. He unlocked the shop door and headed behind the counter, waiting for his first customer.

(NOTE: Due to my work schedule, I may not be able to respond until early morning and late night, so please bare with me.)

Aaron had heard of a new book store opening up and decided to check it out. As he entered he saw some great books but was looking for one in particular, The Works of the Late Edgar Allan Poe (The Griswold Edition). Aaron had read some of Poe's work 8 years ago and was fascinated by them. After hearing that there was a series of books out there he had to have a copy. Not knowing where to start he headed to the counter to ask.

"Excuse me but do you happen to have The Works of the Late Edgar Allan Poe (The Griswold Edition)?"

((Funny you mentioned Poe, he was my favorite suspense write and still is to this day. have a leatherbound of his complete works))

Alexi walked into the new book store, or rather ducked a bit. The pallace of the door was just a slight bit lower than what he was used to.

He eyed the place, a brown paper wrapped stacks of his recent works wrapped in twine tucked neatly under his arm. He had heard word from a few of the ladies in his shop of a new bookstore opening in town, and knew he had to stop in and see it for himself.

He stood, half braizenly glancing at the other patrons and taking the shop in for what it was, until, quite expectidly of him, he laughed heartly. He set his stack of book on the counter and waited for the first customer to finish with the shop keeper. That was until he saw the display of noble fountian writers pens and set of inks. His jaw dropped as he approached the extravigently laid out set. Each was polished to a brilliant shine, and some golden while others a pure white silver with wooden shaft.

His pens were usualy old, and second hand. It was what ever the traveling merchants at the market had at the time, and they tend to stock up on more desired wares than functioning pens and inks. He had just rememberd as well the previous night with his model, having to send Loretta home early due to his running out of heavy inks in order to shade his drawings. His usual merchant having not shown up at the early market this morning, he found cause to purchase the set.

Leaf looked over at the dark gray wolf in the soldier's uniform.
"Why yes, sir. Allow me to get that for you."

He walked over to the middle shelf and began glancing at the covers. After spending a couple of minutes searching, he found what he was looking for. He carried the heavy book back over to the customer.

"Here it is! This book is said to have an interesting history in terms of having it published. However, do not let that trouble you from reading the works of such a famous author."

Aaron pulled out 3 florin and handed it to Leaf. "Again thank you."

With that Aaron walked out and headed for a near by restaurant to get something eat and drink and to enjoy his new book.

Leaf smiled as Aaron walked out with his new book. The rabbit looked at the money in his hand and placed it in the register.

"To think... if it wasn't for Link and Yuna, I'd never be doing this," he thought to himself. "I'll have to find some way to thank them for their help."

He then noticed the gentlemen looking at the collection of fountain pens. "Can I help you with anything, sir?"

link rushed to go and congratulate leaf on opening up his new book store not noticeing how low the door frame was a smacking his head on it.

slightly dizzy and wobbly he ducks his head and enters and greets leaf in his australian acsent.

"hey leaf ya finally opend ye shop a looks good uhhh my head" then slumps against the counter while looking at leaf.

"dont worry about me i'll be fine ya it happens more times then ye know mate",

Leaf notices that the customer is still busy browsing, so he lets him be. He hears someone call out to him and notices his friend Link walking in. He is concerned for him when the cheetah hits his head on the doorframe, but Link's words calmed him.

"It's so good to see you again, friend! You and Yuna really helped me out here!"

He lowers his voice so that only Link can here. The rabbit's face turns a slight shade of pink.

"And... erm, speaking of Yuna, how is she anyway?"

Alexi was near drooling at the sight of such fine coligraphy, so much in fact that he failed to hear the rabbit address him. Alexi snapped back to reality, and grabbed a black cedar wood braced silver fountian pen. He collected a few vials of ink as well, each with different shades and thickness.

"Ah! Forgive me comrad, but i was admiring your set of pens. It is rare to find such good quality in small town."

Alexi laughed a bit louder than usual, reflecting his excitement about his pending purchase. He noticed the rabbit talking to another and so stood off to the side. He diddnt want to be rude.

"If you wish, i have business proposal to make to you when you have time to talk." Alexi said. He put his hands up and tried to be as polite as possable to the other two.

link who hadn't noticed the huskie looked at him with a big smile and offered him his tail as a hand shake.

"oh hi names link collins delight castle entertainer my good sir im sorry i cut in front of you please continue your proposal im in no hurry"

then turned back to his friend

"i'll get back to that question after ya done with are good sir here" then proceeded to look at the many books on display.

He turned his attention to the muscular huskie, eying the silver fountain pen in his hands. "You have fine tastes to choose that, sir. That was said to be crafted with the best cedar and silver to be found in England."

Alexi was a bit shocked, but knew that it shouldent be so surpising. After all, the iceblocks are shipped from the far artic north in massive ships.

"Well, I would like the purchase of these." Alexi set the pen and inks down on the countertop. he then patted his hand on the stack of books he had unwrapped.

"You are bookstore, yes? Would you be interested in getting weekly supply of my erotic novels? I am author and artist for 'Passion of Fur and Flesh' and publish here in Bonbon."

"Well, not just England, sir. I usually get my stock from other countries in Europe and back home in States. Occasionally, an item or two comes from the East."

Leaf then glances at the small pile of books after the husky explain that he was a writer. When he found out what he wrote about, he was shocked himself.

"Ah, I heard about that book. I've never read it yet, but people have been saying great things about it. Tell you what... let me carry these books in my store and I'll give you a discount for whatever you need, including that pen and ink. Deal?"

As Wolf left Fran's Finest, he noticed the bookstore.
-Bookstore....At least it can keep me occupied on my spare time.....unless Drusilla gets further plans for me.-
Wolf eyes the store from the front and enters it slowly.
He sees a Huskie and a Rabbit, talking business.
-One of them is the owner, the other is a customer.....gotta wait before guessing who's which.-
He slowly begins eyeing the store and its multitude of books.

(It's been a while since Alexi was here, so I better get this story moving.)

The rabbit smiled as he finished the transaction with the husky. He set the fountain pens inside a small box and placed them and the ink wells in a bag. After the husky left, he set up the stack of small books next to the cash register and looked towards Link.

"Sorry about the wait, Link. Now, what was it you were going to tell me?"

Leaf's face turned pink at the mention of Yuna. "I see... Well, erm... I guess I could drop by and... um, see her for a little bit..."

Coughing slightly, he continued. "Anyway, I'll see if I can find those books for you."

He walked towards the bookshelves to try to find Daphne's newest novel and the piano book. While he was searching, his thoughts turned to his old boss Yuna. Although he was comfortable around women now, she was the only one that still made him nervous. He didn't want to admit to anyone, but he had a bit of a crush on her. of Of course, he found out that she was with someone else. So he was trying to get himself over her...

Shaking his head to clear such thoughts, he spotted the two books and took them over to the counter.

"Here you are! The newest novel by Daphne and your new piano book. I heard this one has the newest songs available, such as 'In the Gloaming'."

Goldie enters his pencil jotting down his impressions as he looks round, he speaks out loud as is his habit, "First impressions, bright, welcoming store front, nice atmosphere the smell..." He takes a deep sniff eyes closed, "Leather, vellum, library dust, sepia ink and oh! yes knowledge. To wit a little a patch of heaven on this earth."

"Excuse me could you get me these particular books, please. Stephen Crane's The Red Badge of Courage, and Rudyard Kipling's Second Jungle Book."

He smiles softly pencil ready to write and admiring the shapely rump of the bookseller. "Views most excellent and service is the same."

Henk walked inside the shop and was shoked. So many books.So so many many.

Then he saw Goldie, the freelancer, he really misted that doggie. Henk walked behind him and grapped him " koekkeoek who have I got here? A hot price that I have missed for so much time!"

"Good grief, I didn't think there would be so many people here... Maybe I should take out a Help Wanted ad for an assistant."
